ETAP HOTEL Brugge Centrum Station (Brugge, by Happy Moose Drinker)

4 Points out of 5

This is a reasonable hotel in quite an expensive town. Right above the ugly train station area, it is only 15 minutes walk from altogether more pleasant views.

Unusually for Brugge, the staff are actually quite friendly..perhaps too so; I was given a detailed account of various attractive bike rides in and around the area, even though I didn’t ask and had no intention of substituting my feet with wheels.

The shower cubicle is in the bedroom..and it is see through so it is preferable that you be already intimately familiar with your roommate, to avoid embarrassment. The rooms are very nice. Compact and modern.

We have been eating here with 5 persons – the food was relatively expensive and with small portions. It tasted ok though. The waiter was sort of strange not not too polite.
I just felt cold in the premises the whole time.
When it was time to pay, the waiter told us that “unfortunately” his credit card terminal is broken today and we should go to the next ATM and get money from there.
After leaving I felt still hungry.

Big airport with long ways. Yet, I find it was one of the rather pleasant airports that do not just look plain and functional. If you have to wait there are many possibilities to spend your time. The location itself is quite practical and easy to reach.

Not my favorite airport I have to say. You have to change from the train to a bus or between buses in order to get there, which takes quite a while. The airport itself is rather small with limited shopping and eating possibilities. Inside there is basically one eating area where one can by sandwiches and similar. The prices there are very high.

This is my favorite restaurant in Brussels. The food, a mix between Belgian and French, is absolutely delicious. The service is kind, although some waiters are not experienced enough. In any case, I recommend it. And please, finish your lunch or dinner with a greek yogurt with fresh fruit or nuts… UUUMMM!!!

Nice italian restaurant in the middle of Bruxelles. Different to most of the other restaurants in this area that are quite touristish this restaurant offers a good selection of typical Italian meals as well as meat and fish. Great value for price (Glass of wine between 4 and 6 Euro, Risotto Milanese 9 Euro, Grilled Steak 15 Euro). Take an espresso as well, it’s worth it! You must not expect anything marvellous in this surrounding but I think it definitely is one of the better choices.

Haute Cuisine welll executed. Somewhat pricy but worth it.

High end restaurant with an attached Terrace which likely has a simpler menu. Lunch Prix Fixe four course for €45 and six course for €65. Food was outstanding. Inventive, varied, local ingredients. Was very happy with the experience. Wine list is varied and markup was very humane. Granted it’s in the middle of nowhere… but that’s Belgium for you. Lovely area for hiking.

Two people dined for €185 including wine and felt it was well worth the price.
Heartily recommended.
