Nice but expensive. It s outside the city
Centre but still an ok walk. We had a really nice view of matterhorn which was a great sight to wake up to. You can put a bread order in the night before and it s hung on your door at 7am the following morning.

Great place when you do have small kids. Cheap than room service and fast. Kids love it. But one dinner is enough considering what you eat.

Zermatt isn't really a big enough place to need taxis. I used one to get to the youth hostel as I wasn't sure where it was and had a rucksack with me.
Zermatt's streets are narrow and crowded with pedestrians near the centre. The little electric taxis need a lot of power for the hills in the upper reaches and this means on the level parts they can move at some pretty amazing speeds. I have rarely been as scared as I was in a Bolero Taxi.
As to price, if I'd known I could walk it in five minutes I would have. Very expensive!

Not a bad hostel, food is adequate, rooms are clean and the welcome friendly. Winkelmatten is a little out from the village centre and the hostel sits on the side of the valley. I was in a room for 10 facing towards the Matterhorn and woke up to the classic view through the window, something you can't do from the expensive hotels in the village centre.

Great food! We sat outside which meant that we could order from both restaurants. There s the swiss one and next door there s an Italian/French restaurant. The cheese fondue was great. They have a selection to choose from. If you are hungry and love cheese, 1 portion is good. Otherwise I would recommend to share it. As a starter it would be enough for 2-4 people. Desserts were a bit disappointing. The creme brûlée was too eggy, the raspberry souffle was too sweet, it could ve done w some cream or sthing. The wiener schnitzel was beautiful w super thing chips and well cooked veg. Prices are zermatt prices! 105 Swiss francs for 2 mains, 2 desserts, small glass of wine and a soft drink.

What a disappointment. I love going to supermarkets when travelling but this was disappointing. It s quite big but there is not much in there. Zermatt is expensive and so is this supermarket. the chocolate selection was disapointing too. I think disapointing is the keyword here. If I come again I would make sure I d bring stuff with me.

This is unquestionably a fantastic hotel. Grand style that oozes class and european style.
It is a very well established hotel dating back well over 100 years. The hotel has kept itself fresh and modern over the years by updating the facilities to match the age whilst retaining the historic grace.
I've stayed here around 6 times and it never fails to disappoint.
The evening meals in the main restaurant are a real feature of any stay here. The food and presentation is of the highest standard and any foodie will love it.
