Beautiful pool and a wonderful holiday for cigarette smokers. One can smoke in the rooms of this hotel and the hotel lobby and airy restaurants. Loved the stage in the theatre that joined the Riu Funana with the Garopa next door - reminded me somehow of Brazil. Right on beautiful beaches with no palm trees but waves seemed more fun than the Caribbean. This hotel is not in the same league as some I've stayed at in other parts of the world but good value with Thomson Holidays. British and European clientele actually seemed more upmarket at this hotel than the Brits I encountered on a 2 week Caribbean cruise. The Cape Verde Islands are unusual but I agree that there is not much outside the hotel. Richard and I did an exciting day-trip on a propellor plane to a neighbouring island. The good thing about Cape Verde is that they are Christian. No worries about homosexuality and nowhere near as much hassle from street vendors as The Gambia or Senegal. (ARodwell, 06-01-2012) 5

Location: In the historic centre of Praia, only a few minutes on foot away from Mercado Municipal. Standard: Completely renovated appealing pension with panorama terrace. From the breakfast room, you have a great view over the city and the harbour. Accommodation: 15 pleasant guest rooms with own bath/shower/WC (warm water), air-conditioning, TV.
