Stilbruch is basically the IKEA of second-hand, out-of-fashion tat.They have a lot of very cheap sofas, if you don't care how your sofa looks. I once bought a pretty decent desk chair for €12, but have never found anything else of much interest there.Their tat includes: sofas, dining tables, chairs, cupboards, the odd bed, some bikes, clothes, porcelain, very old electronics, light fittings... you get the picture. Last week I was invited to an event at Otto Hatje, Zigarrenmacher, and as the name says, that's what we did. That isn't really what this shop offers, cigar making I mean, that is done by professional cigar makers, but what it does offer is a nice selection of fresh cigars and a knowledgeable owner happy to advise you, whose personal passion for cigars is obvious in his charming and understated demeanor. You will find cigars from all over the world, but also house brands made especially for Otto Hatje, by cigar makers here in Germany. There is also a nice assortment of rums. I left with some pleasantly aromatic Cuban cigars – one of which this “lady cigar smoker” has already smoked – and I liked it. It’s not my fault, my Daddy put me up to it – we have a tradition of smoking a cigar together every time I’m home in Texas. But after googling I found I am in good company – among others Demi Moore and Sharon Stone. Go have a look! In the back of the store is a cozy cigar lounge. Maybe we’ll run into each other there. Nice Tapas reastaurant with a lot of tables and a very huge Tapas menu. Nice and friendly staff. Fast and good service. This Tapas Bar is near the quarter Ottensen. Just five minutes to walk from the concert hall Fabrik. I never found such a huge Tapas menu in an other Tapas bar in Hamburg. The quality of the meals is excellent and the service staff is always friendly. The atmosphere is cosy and the location is very nice. They have a lot of tables outside in a marquee. But this marquee is heated and at the floor is sand. In the building, the atmosphere is also very nice. I recommend this Tapas bar for couples, for dates and for groups and families. Recently I spent quite a few time looking for furniture or accessories for a flat and I must say this place is the best I've seen so far. I really liked how everything is clearly organized - apart from the very first area which is a bit random. This is the first thing I noticed because usually you spend ages trying to find what you're looking for in stores as huge as this one, maybe just to find out that they don't have it. If you don't find what you're looking for, just ask someone. They were really helpful in my case. Here's the second thing that impressed me: they've got everything. Literally. And prices are the comparable to Baumarkt but I think for quality and number of choices this place is way better. The place is in Bahrenfeld, just across Stilbruch now - so you can even choose where to go first. PS: one area I'd like to suggest is the LED one, full of really cool gadgets. Being from Texas, I would never have expected to find an authentic Mexican food restaurant in Hamburg...they are hard to come by anywhere away from "the border". I have tried several dishes here, and they are ALL amazing. The mole is really well-done and the guacamole has a special accent. This place competes with the best-of-the-best, even in Texas! :) What one CAN'T expect to find here is beautiful interior design (also typical of the best Mexican restaurants back home) nor especially good service. I even thought about reducing one star because of the bad service, but the food actually deserves 10 stars, so I just can't bring myself to take a star away. ;) (yellowduck, 24-03-2012) 5

Cooko is offering a Great vararity of Vietnamese and Asian dishes. Thus everyone should find something on the menu. The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and the dishes are freshly & fast prepared. (jochen-in-hamburg, 17-03-2012) 4

I've been here a couple of times on Sunday afternoon and...dunno. There's nothing particularly good or bad about it, but the staff is really friendly and they crazy hours during the weekend, since they are basically in the middle of the Fischmarkt. Elbperle is a small bistro/cafe in from of the Fischmarkt, I've been here 2 or 3 times to drink a chocolate or to have a meal and I always enjoyed food/drinks, the chilled atmosphere and the friendly service. Parallelwelt looks interesting - from the outside. It's well lit and looks kinda cosy. However, upon entering you'll probably think that it's pretty weird. The furniture is kinda crappy and not-fit-for-purpose. For example, the tables near the window are too high and too low to comfortably do anything on. Wait, how can they be at once too high and too low I hear you thinking to yourself. well they're a stupid curved design with an S shaped middle linking the low half to the high half... Different? Yes. Usable? Not really. Add to this kind of thing the facts that Parallelwelt is a) in the middle of nowhere b) a smokers pub Yeah, not really my kind of bar. (aLii, 16-03-2012) 2
