Date with R.with a setting in a sunny Hamburg, this looked like a very pleasent day, in fact perfect for a date, and she being there in time was a pleasent surprise, you rarely see that nowadays.Obviously with such a good start, things could only go downhill.Three minutes into conversation we somehow were touching the subject of Keith Richards body parts and things went from weird to awkward, back to weird again, to finally being pretty much awkward all the time.Overall I would say this was an enjoyable time, leaving me with the bill set me back 2.50 which was expected but still quite a damaging impact to my economy. If I would do this again, I would leave the wallet at home and claim I had forgotten it, it would also save me the hustle from paying my own coffee as well, so would surely be a win-win situation for everyone, mostly for me though.Halfway into the date I knew that I had done a very good impression, her claim "I would not have sex with you, you are too old!" was a very positive milestone since I knew that we had now reached a point where things really can only get better.I am sure this was the beginning of a long lasting friendship that will eventually go over to relationship, marriage, kids and a very bad divorce leaving us fighting over our two kids, the dog Maxwell and our fifteen year old rusty Volvo.Rating: 3 out of 5 stars. Would have been a 2 star, but she being a stamp collector obviously brings the rating up, everyone knows the future are in stamps. (Awkward, 24-05-2012)

RachelElizabeth786 Shanze is indeed beautiful, had a nice (2) diet coke(s) and shared the company of an argumentative sweed. The constant swearing uplifted my mood along with a romantic walk in the park to the u bahn.

My favourite part of all was the compliments… “I can’t believe you’re so stupid” shining particullarly bright in my memory :)
Looking forward to next time !

IMHO so far the best Portugese Restaurants in Hamburg I have tried! The only drawback is that it is way too crowded and therefore the waiters tend to be stressed out. Make a reservation! The food is definitely worth it! Nice ambiance too! Don't spread the word, its toocrowded already ;-) Ok others are obviously not on the same page with me here, but try the Cataplanas (copper bowlswith simmered seafood) You didn' t like it here? Good. More space for the rest of us. (Thomasso, 05-05-2012)

That's the pub I usually go to watch St. Pauli's games, I really enjoy the atmosphere and all the fans cheering for the local team. Usually there are at least 3-4 screens - 2 of which are pretty big - that show the game, and the place is quite big but still it's not easy to find a good spot if one doesn't come early, because it gets really crowded (expecially if St. Pauli is playing away). It's real fun when St. Pauli scores: they play Song 2 at an insane volume to celebrate it and everyone sings along. Apart from football games, this is supposed to be one of the most popular concert venues in Hamburg - especially for rock gigs, but I still haven't be here for that reason. Things will change soon, as I'll come here to see Every Time I Die (really looking forward to it), so expect an update after it. (Stefano, 15-04-2012)

This was a great find. We arrived about 1am and stayed late. Buzzy, vibrant and incredibly packed. As others have said amazingly they manage to fit a DJ in. I definitely recommend it for a night out with friends. (Ianbro, 05-04-2012)

If you're reading this and still don't know this place, then you need to go there or at least check the blog - even if it's not really up to date. I already saw it a couple of times because I was going to have a pint at Mutter but it was to late for it to be opened, but I popped in only today. The lamps Holly makes - he's the owner of this place and he makes everything he sells - are all made of paper and they're so cool that you really have to go there and stare at them, in pure amusement. If you talk to him you'll instantly understand that, if the things he makes are so cool, it's only because he's got a genuine passion for what he creates, experimenting with different geometric forms, playing with lights and shadows. All that using nothing but paper - another thing he's definitely got a passion for. :-) Talking about how expensive it is, I think you'll be surprised: in fact it's not THAT expensive. Right it's not cheap but, hey: do you want quality stuff? Then you've got to be prepared to spend some money. Otherwise...well, Ikea is everywhere right?! So I think today I discovered another hidden gem in Hamburg, and I can't wait until tomorrow when I'll order my new lamp! (Stefano, 20-03-2012)

Trader Vic's Restaurant und Mai Tai Bar - Sternschanze
Marseiller Strasse 2
20355 Hamburg
It's a hard to find good vegetarian food in non-vegetarian restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised at Trader's Vic. And our waiter was fantastic; both helpful with recommendations as well as friendly! We had a three course meal and they prepared the dessert in front of us. lovely. We had a great evening. It's definitely a place I will go back to again! Update March 2012: Been there a few more time since last review and I haven't been as impessed. Pretty standard food. Lowering my review to 4. The Mai tai bar is however still excellent. (KuriosaRandoma, 20-03-2012)

Nailstudio 43 - Sternschanze

I've had long, natural nails for most of my adult life, but keeping natural nails in a good, presentable state is a whole lot of upkeep and a headache when they chip, split and break. I've always been curious about artificial nails and finally decided to go ahead and get them done - Qype recommended Nailstudio 43, so in I waltzed for my appointment and promptly asked to have my natural nail tips removed and replaced by new artificials. I have to admit that Nailstudio 43 isn't the cleanest establishment I've been to, but I'm used to the levels of hygiene employed at tattoo and piercing studios where everyone (hopefully) wears gloves and meticulously autoclaves every utensil. I've never been to a nail studio before, so was a little surprised that the same standards of cleanliness were not employed there as well. After about an hour, I was the owner of a new set of nails. I really enjoyed observing the nail technician do her job, I imagine a lot of skill goes into trying to get a good-looking set of nail enhancements. I can't say anything about how long the nails last without lifting - we'll have to wait and see - but from the reviews I've been reading, it's about four weeks - which is already a lot less hassle than the upkeep of a set of long, natural nails. I'll certainly return and will recommend Nailstudio 43 to other first-timers as well. (Liron, 17-03-2012)

Labaik Hadj & Umra Reiseservice - Sternschanze
Schanzenstr. 66
20357 Hamburg
Currently the service I got is really poor. I told them that I would need the passport before the travel and I made this again clear when I sent the documents and I already paid the extra costs for this service. However they did not do the job and made excuses that I should remind them 10 days before it can be sent back by them. I mean, if I already made it clear before I sent the documents, it means that this task should be in their agenda to be done already. Ridiculous. I 'cannot wait' to see what other 'surprises' they have for me ready during the journey itself. (ika_pu3, 13-03-2012)
