Authentic Portugese, good fish, casual, excellent value for money.
Got a tip from someone married to a Portugese fellow. Turned out to be a great tip. This is primarily a fish place, just like you'd find on vacation. Not swanky (this is not a first date place)... plastic tablecloth, communal seating, Portugese TV in the background. I had grilled dorado with garlic potatoes... perfect. Date had Gambas. Also an appetizer of bread with homemade aioli. A bottle of Vinho Verde cost only €11 !!
Fish was very fresh and well prepared. Price was extremely reasonable as the whole shebang ran to €39 including a bottle of wine. Probably why the place was packed on a Saturday early evening. Will be returning soon.... officially my new favorite fish place in Rhein-Main Gebiet.

Nice cafe to have a simple small breakfast for students. That's why I had to take one off: a little small dishes ^^
Free Wifi! ask at the counter :)

Shitty Service but the ice cream is alright.
I'd suggest to get it downstairs on the go... The "drive through" so to say ;)

Heiliggeist is certainly unique. It looks like an old church with cathedral high ceilings. It has been renovated to create an eclectic modern look and feel. The menu is just as diverse in its offering. That is where things can start going wrong, just stick to one cuisine. We visited on a less busier night and our food was good and tasty. We ordered the lasagna pumpkin, pork loin medallions wrapped in yet more pork (bacon) and the veal snitzel. The prices were alright but certainly breaded veal for €17.50 is a bit over the top! The waiters were courteous, but again either shy or not outgoing enough, just working for a paycheck I suppose. I don't mind paying a bit more, but the whole experience (food, atmosphere, service etc.) has to fall into place like puzzle pieces. I am rating this experience 3 1/2 stars and yes I would give this restaurant another go, .

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Mainz, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt. It's not just the quality of the food and the carefully chosen selection of wines. It's also the lovely atmosphere. The staff is very kind and competent, and you can see that Mrs. Gebert loves her job. Check out the pictures and you'll see what I mean.
I lived in this area before but I only got to try the Weinstuben a fee days ago. Some people say it's a bit pricey but I think it's actually a good deal. I know many "gourmet restaurants" that don't taste as good as this one and serve much smaller servings but they're still more expensive.
If possible i would give more than five stars. Try it out!

Quality of food and beverages is very good. Usually the place has a pretty solid daily menu which is explained by the waiter. I never ate a la carte since there is always something nice on the menu of the day. The red house wine is also very good and really not expensive.
One should try an entry plate for two which is also sufficient for four.
I can really recommend El Sombrero.

Darn it I've just decided to add another star for Pomp. The thing is, me and the kids just keep going back and I guess anyplace that draws you back time and again must have something going for it. Highly recommended for breakie.

I've only ever gone for breakfast so I can't comment on rest of menu. Cafe Pomp is a reasonably stylish cafe, they offer five or six different breakfasts. for example country breakfast, french breakfast, swiss breakkfast. Portions are large and food is very good. I wouldn't call it cheap but also not over priced.
Grreat place just to hang out for a coffee....alfresco in good weather.
Good looking waitresses too.

Arriving late evening after a long day travelling it was welcome to find a restaurant open, lovely pilsner on tap and a maitre'd who could speak English and recommend the local speciality on the menu. Eating wild boar and apple ravioli at 10:30pm in a restaurant on a broad river was the best way to end a day and prepare for a day of business meetings the next. Heartily recommend!

Hofgut Laubenheimer Höhe is really a great place to relax, dine and enjoy your freetime. Not to mention a paradise for horses and riders. Honestly, I don't understand how people can complain about having to wait a few minutes for a good glass of wine. If you come here, you should come here to enjoy the place and leave your stopwatch at home. If you're more interested in running a race, I would recommend the Nürburgring. And aren't guests who complain usually the main reason for unfriendly service personnel? Honestly, just because you don't get served first doesn't mean the people who work here are unfriendly. Congratulations to the Barth family for opening up such a marvelous place.
