This is a fantastic beer bar serving an ever changing range of beers (current list to be found on the blackboard)

The prices are reasonable and they are friendly. They even let me pay with the 1000 kronor note that the bank had stupidly given me!

This place is very different to the Old Shamrock . I think I like it a little better than previously. The prior incarnation of Shamrock was probably too brightly lit, with hindsight. The darker look works well for it…although it looks a lot less like a traditional Irish pub now. And the old place held 10 years worth of sentimental value to me (especially as there were less great bars in Copenhagen back then!)

Lots of room downstairs (people seem to fill the bar area and raised area above before anyone thinks to wander downstairs).

Usual Irish pub abroad beers. Don’t pretend like you don’t know!

There were some interesting beers on at this bar, but arriving late on a Saturday night the party seemed to be over and the live music had already happened.

Looks more like a Danish bar than an Irish pub. Either way..one I need to revisit at a more popular to get a more accurate impression.

I like the name.

Check in at SAS is really slow if you have a suitcase. Security check is fast and very well organized. Terminal is more a shopping mall than an airport. is you have a gate in zone A you most likely have a bit to walk.

This is a charming little place on a small square and their menu being found in a tatty book is such a nice touch.

The wine was nice and the Lachs frikadeller were absolutely delicious.

They also serve burgers for the unadventurous.

A wonderful random find, when actually heading somewhere else! This bar has a lot of very interesting beers, especially from forn parts. I went for liberty ale from the Anchor brewing co, which was a really nice brew.

The mix of old and modern music and the iconic pictures around the walls make this a very pleasant place to pass some time.

Casablanca (Århus N, by rglickstein)

5 Points out of 5

In a few words, Casablanca is warm, personable and delicious. I read a review in the Lonely Planet guide when my fiancé and I visited on a working holiday (she was working, I was on holiday) last week. So one night when she finished work we ventured over there from our hotel (the Oasia City Hotel – another recommendation, but that’s another show). It was a pleasant 1 Km walk through the shopping area and by the big cathedral.

When we got there we were greeted with pleasant smiles and chose our seats as a homey restaurant should. They offer a short, but quality a la carte menu and also offered a fixe prix three courser for 175 DKK. (Compared to other places, this was a great price!) The courses began with a starter of scallop in a portion of slightly larger than amuse bouche, but enough to get some fantastic flavors on our palates. Second course was a braised beef with roasted root vegetables in season (carrot, beet, leek, onion, potato) over a lumpy (a good thing) homemade mash all covered with a reduced red wine sauce drizzle. The flavors were wonderful and mixed so well we had to take our time eating. It was fantastic. Third course was a citronfromage paired with homemade chocolate that we fell in love with.

We added each one glass of an Italian red of mixed grapes (sorry, can’t remember the name of the wine) that was wonderful. For two, we ended up paying about a little less than 500 DKK. But for essentially USD $40 per meal it was a steal considering this chef’s skill.

A couple of days later I ambled in to sit with a latte and read a little and the waiter who served us remembered me with a smile. It just feels like you’re getting served by friends.

When you get to Århus make a point to go to this place. It’s reasonably priced and worth more than you’ll pay.
