Food is not terrific but it’s the premises which makes it worth the visit; in the heart of the medieval town of Tallinn, this is indeed a medieval restaurant where everything matches: the decoration (looks like an old stall or barn), the uniforms of the waiters… It’s not by far the kind of place where you had the best meal ever ever but for once in your life: let yourself go and admire more the decoration than the food. You will not regret it.

Yes a very nice Location th have Party. I was there on 29 of September @ the Concert of UDO from Germany. The Drinks are not to expensive i think and the people are nice.

During Concerts you can sit on wooden chairs or banks and listen to the music. I think the Music was not so loud aus in other Clubs.

To come to the RockCaffee you must take Tram no 2 or 4 till station Lubja and than about 500m up the Hill.

If I lived in Tallinn, this would be my favourite location! Beautiful (previously industrial, F-Hoone) building, good food and drinks, clean toilets, friendly employees, and visitors which make me feel “at home”.

Not changed one bit from earlier reviews. Really convenient for relaxed and friendly dining. Had good food in an ok environment at good prices, which is something the way Tallinn restaurants seem to be going on price this year, being European City of Culture. I'd go again if here regularly.

Interestingly there were Estonians eating here as well as Tourists, which surprised me, as at the outset is seemed very touristy.

The food was good solid fair, tender lamb chops, giant baked potato and lashings of sour cream sauce and cherry gravy.

Large cavernous rooms like a medieval dinning hall, with staff (who were efficient and pleasant) but personally it was not my cup of tea as my preference is a bit more intimate, however its perfectly good and did the job.

4 Points out of 5

We visited here on Saturday 30th April 2011. Despite the biting Siberian wind the sun was out and sitting out on the terrace looking on to the square was lovely and allowed great people watching.

The staffs were young and friendly and seemed very hard working. The coffee was really good and the cakes were delicious! We even got a free chocolate with each mug.

We didn’t realise how amazing it was inside as well until we went into see the cakes in person (there was table waiter service – I just like to see the cakes in person. The inside is a series of caves and it feels as if the rooms have been hewn out of rock. I can imagine it being very snug in here in the winter.

The only bad points were that blankets weren't provided like the other cafes in the square, to keep you toasty, but that would have only been a deal breaker there was no sun. Also the loos were not of the highest standard, I didn’t see it by my Mother did and said it was pretty icky!
Prices are tourist prices and no different to any other capital city and since the introduction of the Euro that won’t change. I thought it was the best of all the cafes in the square. I’d go out of my way to visit when I’m next in Tallin.

Kompressor (Tallinn, by trucjul)

1 Points out of 5

Anyway... I decided to tell you a story that happened during my last stay in Tallinn.

....
We (me and my sis) decided to have a quick bite at the so called "legendary" (don't know why they think they're legendary, but anyway) Kompressor, The Pancake House.

So.. It took me a while to choose something that didn't have "garlic" on the menu. So I went with a gigantic pancake with minced meat (organic, of course :)))) ) and cheese.
What i received was far from "garlic and onion free". The smell and taste of garlic was so strong that i couldn't force myself to eat more than two bites.
So... Considering that the garlic was not on the menu, I naively asked the waitress to change my pancake to something more edible.... Our conversation follows:

Me: "Could you please change my pancake as it is full of garlic, which i cannot eat and it didn't say on the menu that there was garlic in this one"?
Her (WITH HER EYES WIDE OPEN) : "What do you mean "change"? O_O???
ME: "Well... change... you know... as in make a new one? without garlic?"
Her: "Nooooo, we can't do that. Buy another one."
Me: "Buy a new one? is this a joke? I wouldn't have ordered if the information in the menu was right"
Her: "So are you saying that we should put ALL ingredients ? Shall we write that we also add salt and milk ?"
Me - thinking WTF. Is she stupid or does she think I am?

Anyway... you get the point... wonderful conversation... ABSOLUTELY NO customer service whatsoever...

I definitely do not recommend. Unless you like being taken for granted and spoken to like THEY are doing YOU a favour.

Cannot stress enough how disappointing it was. (and its not about money).
