The stay here is really to recommend (mostly scene). The rooms are colorful, clean, very comfortable and familiar. The hostel is centrally located. Furthermore, it is in the vicinity of the subway station Urgell. From here the Airport is easy to reach with public transport. The bathroom you have to share with other guests, but I have not noticed any congestion, even though it was fully booked. The rooms are located on the 5th and 6 Floor (lift not available). The prices are excellent, short trips are there for recommendable.
Terminal B (gates 41-44), Barcelona Airport

This is one of your typical self-service cafe establishments you find dotted across airport terminals the world over.
This one has a slightly Spanish flavour in the choice of filled baguettes (bocadillos) with _tortilla con patatas_, the choice of wines and the array of pastries, but otherwise is pretty anonymous.
Service varies hugely - there's just one till, and if someone wants lots of coffees made and there's only one member of staff there, it can seem interminable. Their sandwiches are pretty unimaginative, too - there are better selections elsewhere in the airport, if you can be bothered to trek around.
Seating is very convenient for gates 41-44, though, and it's probably better to wait for your gate to open while sipping a coffee than it is to sit in the regimented rows of seats by the gates themselves.
It's relatively expensive, as you might expect - a couple of sandwiches and drinks will set you back over €12.

4 stars really for it's location, just sitting and drinking, watching the world go by on the Rambla.
We didn't venture inside.
Otherwise it's just the same as manyof the bars along there.
Very jolly waiter.

A very taditional cafe /bar, serving the local population and metro users at the Parallel Station.
Indoor a little smokey, but outdoors is very pavement and busy road.
We found it useful for a quick morning coffee before our travels, but can't think of a reason for searching it out.

Oh dear, far from ideal, looked good so thought we'd grab some food.
Suspicions were first raised with very poor standards in toilets, which they did sort out when told.
Paella was mediocre, Chicken breast was too tough to cut... they offered a sharper knife!, in the end supplied something else.
Avoid.

A huge place with great views of the harbour, offereng outside seating and 3 different indoor areas. One is a snack/tapas type area, and a seperate large restaurant.
We went outside in the sun for snack and drink.
Gaspacho was reasonable, and the salads and potato tapas were enjoyed.
It is what it is, in a busy tourist area, but does the job.

A quite unusual place, but seems to be popular with a quite eclectic mix of people... arts people, trendies, young and old, business types, very difficult to classify... which made it interesting.
They offer an Austrian version of fast food, we only wanted wine and coffee at the end of the night, the wine was in mini bottles!
The snacks looked ok and very reasonable.

Simple and classy welcome at this little hostel in the centre of Barcelona. The ideal hotel for discovering the city (avoid Las Ramblas!) or for coming to party! However the hotel does not offer breakfast. But is that a bad thing when you can find every 10 metres places offering all different types of food?

If you are lucky enough to find this place (well hidden, set back behind a red metal door down one of the typical tiny lanes in the Gothic Quarter off Las Ramblas). I maybe biased as I have fond memories but this place as it is like no other bar I have been to...ever.
I can only describe it as a kinda heavy metal bar - but imagine a really cosy, relaxed heavy metal bar... with no loud metal music...plus the clientele is not massively metal. Ok..ok look stay with me on this one. I was meeting friends here for the first time but coming straight from a very formal cocktail party in a dress which I could hardly sit down in let alone head bang. So even though I was the only one ridiculously over dressed and stood out like a drag queen at a WI meeting I immediately felt comfortable - the atmosphere is definitely anything goes. There is a long bar down either side of place and at each seat along the bar, there is an individual set of headphones, scraps of paper and pens on the counter. So you're encouraged to write down musical requests on the little pieces of paper and hand them to the DJ - who looks like he has been DJ-ing one too many years. He stands in a tiny dingy booth at the end of the room. There is also a menu style music list to get your juices flowing but I say go off piste! It was waaay more fun seeing if Mr DJ man could deliver the goods, 9 times out of 10 he did. The music - which is not played loudly in the bar itself - ranges from classic metal to more recent bands and hair metal to hardcore, with indie stuff like the Cure and the Pixies thrown in for good measure. The idea is that when a song comes on that you like, you can put the headphones on and hear it at a quite extraordinary volume to really rock out!! By far one of the best evenings I have ever had and with the Tequila flowing we so totally silently rocked that place out.
