La Dolce Vita Italian Wine tasting, Norbiton

Thanks to all you brilliant and lovely Qypers/Dolce Vita-ers for trekking over to the (hidden) depths of SW London for our inaugural and slightly mysterious wine-tasting.

Qype has the best members and Wined Up Here has an impressive selection of well-chosen wines, with a very laid-back, knowledgeable, welcoming owner - perfect combination. We all had lots of fun and laughs, in excellent company.

Those of you who didn’t attend missed out on lots of smiley, sipping moments along with some sly slurping (as Siany says…) and alcohol-infused silliness. Grazie e salute!

That was fun. The minor bus hell I endured to get there was worth it.

Charlotte’s got a great wine shop here, and put on a good tasting event. It was great to meet Randolph (easy there, pal!) and CarolineLD, and super of course to see amethyst and Siany again.

Wait, sneaking more wine into my glass? How dare you!

Not a lot to add to Siany’s review - except another huge thank you to Amethyst for organising a brilliant evening! It was great to meet some other qypers, try some delicious wines in a lovely venue, and find out where Norbiton is!!

Huge thank to Amethyst!!! We had a great time at Wined up here in Norbiton (still not entirely sure where that is, but it’s pretty near Kingston.) It was good for me to drag my lazy ass to the other side of London for a change.

We were treated so well by the lovely Charlotte who put on a great spread (of both wine and food) and after one glass we immediately became utter wine snobs talking rubbish. Or was that just me?

Highlights of the evening:

Confusion leading to someone thinking I was married to another fellow Qyper.

Timinator trying to sneak lots more wine into his glass when no one was looking. Timinator is an excellent actor.

The shop is lovely. All great wine and every single one in the shop has a handwritten label to tell you what it tastes like. A lot of love goes into this place!

The wine was yummy. Charlotte chose two Sicilians especially for me and they were great.

I now have two yummy bottles of red to sip over the weekend because I couldn’t decide between the two!

I really really like it here. We had a great night and it was lovely to meet some other Qypers in a new place. I missed my train we were having much fun. Don’t care. I have a rather smiley hangover at the moment!
