What/Why:
To celebrate Qype UK's 1st birthday we'd like to invite you and your friends to a very special Pub Quiz! Expect lots of melon scratching questions, fantastic prizes and, of course, free beer!
We will be kicking off the Quiz at 7.30pm (drinks from 7) and we expect the Quiz to wrap up at 10pm (party will continue for those that want to).
As spaces are limited, please add to the discussion below if you already have a quiz team pulled together (and how many members are in it, maximum of 6) so we can keep track. You can also chat to other Qypers about teaming up.
Oh, and don't forget to invite your friends and family along for the fun!

I had an excellent time at the Qype quiz. Especially for a Thursday.
I know everyones’s doing it, but I’ve never jumped from computer world into the actual and I really didn’t know what to expect. I was thinking bouncers and names checked off a list and like what do you mean you can’t sing the Qype song? Are you just stooging us for beer and cake?
It was more like the atmosphere at an after work social or a family thing. It felt like a place where people already knew each other rather than a bunch of strangers.
We arrived at about 7.15. I tried to get there early because I wanted a table and I figured that if they were cheap skates then this would be the only time to down the free beer.
We occupied the last available table inside, surrounding it with an odd collection of arm chairs and plastic pews and then made a raid on the bar.
Meeting Qype people, playing quiz games and eating free food are all things that I was looking forward to, but really it was the promise of free beer that got me venturing off the couch mid week.
The bar, like the entire venue, was busy but not overly crowded. The cash registers were counting up to something – some nefarious figure where we would have to start paying for our own drinks. It clicked up to 247 as the sparkly Aussie bar chick ran up the previous mans drinks – and I pumped her for the terminal number. She thought it would be 500, and we started drinking as though our wallets may be required in about a half hours time.
Around eight Rob and Adam made some little speeches about qype and a very loud man in a funny hat started screaming out questions. Also it became clear that the bar tab was extending beyond the 500 mark. The foundations of a really good night had been layed.
We attempted our questions with a reasonable diligence between sips and trips to the bar, and were a very happy little team by half time.
The break brought the end of the tab, but that blow was cushioned greatly by the delivery of some varied and delicious snacks. I was first to the food, so quick that I arrived before the chicken squewers (one of the few things I regret about the evening)
The second half we relaxed a little more as it became clear that we wouldn’t win the main prize, putting our energies instead into the funny name category. “Review this mother Qype Bar” being our final draft which, on sober reflection, deservedly didn’t win.
Around 11.30 we parted into the night, each declaring that a wonderful evening had been enjoyed, and individually praising the organisers and sponsors.
In summary the food was great (What did that idiot expect from the other review? Lobster and truffles?) The beer was pored with great generosity. The company was excellent and the toilet had everything I normally require in a toilet (This issue being largely commented upon in other reviews)
The only thing I missed was a little more Qypeness. As we all have alias’s on the site – maybe some way of introducing people – perhaps some silly awards for good reviews, a trophy for the person with highest points or something. And I would have loved a little more history or background or anacdotes about the Qype story.
But really a great night – and I’ll definitely be attending in the future.

Oh this was fun! Mucho fun!
The pub was bit weary, but did not detract at all from the fun, and people. After all, a place is special because of the people you meet.
I’m not sure the quiz was generall knowledge so much as the workings of a brilliant mind. neurotic, but brilliant.
Food was great, free drinks great, loos not great, but better than a hole in the ground!
Great mix of people, all of whom were interesting in different ways.
Thanks Qype!

Great night, Great quiz; qype are being far too nice to us! That said I think the early bonus round was designed to sabotage team 'Somerset Mafia’. Needless to say our chances of winning the overall quiz diminished rapidly post sambuca. Oh my aching head.

I’ve put most of what I have to say into my review of the bar really… but as to the party, great fun! Really enjoyed the interesting questions, nice to meet some more folks, and, out of the Qype events I’ve been to, best food yet. Including the cake. Thanks for a great night guys!

Myself and my fellow team members had an absolutely cracking time, praise be to you, lads and lasses of Qype, for a funtabulous evening.
A little disappointed with third place but not bad for a team of 4! We blew it second half, just like so many of the West Ham games I see…..
Bravo.

DrO2e: you don’t have to have six in a team, that’s just the maximum team size. So your Mafia can stay at 4 if you like.

@bombardier -- I don’t think so. Look at the photos on the review - a guy is wearing jeans and t-shirt, so I wouldn’t worry.
