Luminara di S. Ranieri, River Arno, Pisa, Pisa

What/Why:

Dating back to 1668, this event sees every building along the banks of the Arno River lit up by over 70,000 ‘lumini’ (small glass lamps burning oil or wax).
Candles are also floated down the river itself and the festivities are concluded with a fireworks display.
