What/Why:
Yes it’s that time of year again, the Christmas Markets are back!
Oh no, it’s time to escape Manchester and get away from all that xmas hype and spend spend spend mentality. City Council wants us to spend what few pennies we have on expensive tack. give us a break and put the art back into Christmas. GO IF YOU MUST, otherwise avoid.
Spread over five locations across the City Centre (Albert Square the main one, plus other smaller sites in St Ann’s Square, Brazennose Street, Exchange Street and New Cathedral Street), the markets offer a chance to sample treats and sweets from all over Europe, with plenty of mulled wine to wash it all down!
New this year (according to the Council’s website) are “a 6m high Weihnactspyramide (a giant German Christmas Pyramid with Nativity scene), which sits on top of the German Beer Tent and a magical Alpine House which is traditionally decorated and houses a giant multilingual talking reindeer!”
Even if you’re not buying, it’s a great place to wander round and soak up the atmosphere…
Discuss this event right here:
Outstanding! For anyone who is interested in shopping. as an object of study and experience -Christmas Market is a must visit place! always full of people. one of the most happening place in Manchester.
Manchester tourist attractions
Good Markets, wide variety of stalls. perfect for xmas shopping.
Great for trying new types of food as well

jonko Special it may well be, but it’s all about a city that wants you to spend your hard earned cash on overpriced gifts. £3.50 for a hot dog, buger, or chip buttie, and £2.50 for a plastic cup of muulled wine, Nice but expensive - and not a vegetarian stand in site! So smell the beef in the beef and brautwurster in the 'air’ but don’t hold out for falafal and humus!

ScottheBrave Forget that Dave. Read it properly now. If we can arrange it, maybe we could go when I return from florida as sounds great. I used to live in Manchester once.
