What/Why:
A six piece trombone-led band playing traditional and new tunes. Mother Hubbard’s Traditional Jazz Band was formed in 2001 by music students at York University. A six piece band, Mother Hubbard’s has a wide-ranging repertoire and includes tunes from Jelly-Roll Morton, Louis Armstong and Bix Biederbeck at every gig. Influenced by a rich heritage of British trad jazz, the band also performs original music which has been performed live on National Television. The band has entertained delegates numerous times at major political party conferences and since 2002 has been resident band at York Racecourse.
