Lambeth Country Show, Brockwell park, Herne Hill, London

I went here on the Saturday for the first time this year and really didn't know what to expect. Really pleased that something like this was happening in Lambeth, rather than somewhere in East London. Should I have been 10 years old, I probably would have been beside myself with excitement as the amount of fairground rides, sugary treats and entertainment on offer is fantastic. The main stage was really popular, it was like being at a festival, lots of nice vibes. I did expect more animals being paraded around, but did get to watch a good session on sheep sheering. I thought that their craft tent could be improved though. All of the great innovative things London crafters are up to these days wasn't really reflected in the tiny tent. But if its a small animal made out of wire you're after, it's fine. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to the selection of food being served - jerk chicken, oriental curries, burgers... There's also nice cider on offer, although the queues are long and there's not that many bars. I suggest that you bring your own!

Overall, it was a great day with something for everyone (the excellent sunny weather was a bonus). They really should do these things more often! Brockwell Park is a great location.

I went on Saturday & Sunday! Saturday I took my camera & really enjoyed the people watching & dancing in the park to Irations Steppas, black Voices & Red Earth & Soothsayers collective. Everything from dub/reggae fusion, acapella & even afrobeat jazz-reggae with a great horn section! Sunday I was there to see Top Cats - rock n roll ska party!
