What/Why:
Our next poet-tastic event happens on Sunday, 16th May, 2pm at our NEW venue Old Orleans (Church St, Cardiff), featuring award-winning poets MIKE JENKINS and THAER AL-SHAYEI.
MIKE JENKINS won the 1998 Wales Book of the Year for his short story collection Wanting to Belong, which was then adapted for BBC Wales and Channel 4. He has also won an Eric Gregory Award, The Young Writers Prize for his work Empire of Smoke and the John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry. http://www.mikejenkins.net/
THAER AL-SHAYEI was a finalist in the 2009 John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry. He is also an actor and film writer, as well as a producer of short films through his company, Talk, Act, Screen Productions. He recently won the Shooting Star Award for best up-and-coming actor at the Bafta Short Film Awards.
