What/Why:
Freshkitos
Gustavo Pereira & Filipe Rodrigues have been attracted & inspired early on by music in general. Both living in the city known as Invicta, or Oporto, they created the well known party, “Porto Official Afterhours”. Together and with the help of friends, they programmed and booked artists such as: Tiefschwarz, Charles Webster, Dixon, Robert Owens, François Kevorkian, Jef K and many others.
Ambitious & devoted to djing, these guys were always together, practicing, creating, & exploring electronic music. Filipe owned one of the most successful record stores of Oporto at the time and Gustavo was the music director & resident dj at one of the most important & oldest clubs in Portugal, Indústria Porto. Artists like Michael Mayer, Miss Kittin, Laurent Garnier, Tiga, Booka Shade, Ivan Smagghe, Anthony Rother, Nouvelle Vague, Ed Motta, Dj Marky, Ricardo Villalobos, 2manydjs and many others were his guests.
2004 was the year were the duo, Freshkitos officially started. On the first Saturday of 2007, they hosted an all-nighter set at Indústria and ever since they’ve been booked for dates all around Portugal as well as internationally in clubs and festivals like City Hall, Macarena, Kubik, The One (Barcelona) , Aquarium, The Egg, Wet Yourself (London) , Watergate (Berlin), Dv1 ( Lyon ), Weetamix (Geneve), Balaton Festival (Hungary), Freshweekend (Spain) and others.
In 2008, Gustavo and Filipe wanted to re-create the underground scene in Oporto, so they took things to the next level and opened their own spot, Gare Porto. It was a dream come true, but also a hard task, already having an existing full schedule. Sven Vath, John Digweed, James Holden, Richard Dorfmeister, Marco Carola, Josh Wink, Seth Troxler, Magda, Sebo K, Anja Schneider, Dop, Andre Galluzzi, Gui Boratto, Paul Kalkbrenner, Tiga, 2manydjs, and huge list of other artists. The club is still going strong today.
