CLEETHORPES SOUL REVIVAL, Sunday-August 26th
During the mid 70’s, the unlikely town of Cleethorpes became the East Coast hub for Northern Soul music.
Attracting thousands from around the UK, the Pier rocked to thunderous sounds from Detroit,Chicago, New York etc.
Considered the most influential underground music of its type, Northern has lasted well over 45 years, with areas such as Stoke On Trent and key towns in the North West a magnet for not only middle aged fans, but younger enthusiasts too.
Some of the fondest memories in the scene’s history were at the famous Pier and now promoters Goldsoul who run All Nighters,Weekenders and Soul nights across the UK, are bringing those glory days back again with a series of promotions at the well loved venue.
Original DJ’s from 1975, Soul Sam, Chris Dalton and Poke will be joined by a stella cast of major Soul names such as Kev Roberts(Blackpool Tower/Wigan Casino), Sean Chapman(Kings Hall Stoke), Nige Brown(Costa Del Soul), Snowy(Whitby Weekenders) plus Modern Soul maestro’s Sean Hampsey and Steve Woomble.
The first event on Sunday,August 26th opens from 4pm-1am at the newly refurbished Pier Pavilion with the Tides Bar added as a 2nd room.
The very best of the Northern Soul era is back in Cleethorpes in one of the legendary venues!
