Kölner CSD-Parade 2012, Heumarkt Platz, Altstadt-Nord, Cologne

What/Why:

Seit 1991 veranstaltet der Kölner Lesben- und Schwulentag e.V. (KLuST) alljährlich die CSD-Parade. Einerseits im Gedenken an die Ereignisse in der Christopher-Street 1969, andererseits mit Blick nach vorn, um weiterhin für die Gleichberechtigung und Akzeptanz von Schwulen, Lesben, Bisexuellen und Transgendern zu demonstrieren.

Während sich anfänglich rund 3.000 Lesben und Schwule in der historischen Altstadt zum Gay-Pride und Straßenfest trafen, kamen in den letzten Jahren lt. Presseberichten jeweils zwischen 650.000 und 1.000.000 Gäste nach Köln, sodass die CSD-Parade zum Abschluss des ColognePride heute als einer von Europas größten Queer-Events gilt: Bis zu 120 Wagen und ungezählte Fußgruppen nahmen an den Paraden der letzten Jahre teil.

Die Anmeldung einer Paradegruppe ist etwa ab Mitte / Ende April über die Website des ColognePride möglich (www.colognepride.de).

Since 1991, the Kölner Lesben- und Schwulentag (KLuST) has organised the CSD Parade on the first Sunday in July each year. On the one side in memory of the events of Christopher Street in 1969, on the other side with a vision to the future in order to demonstrate for the equal rights and acceptance of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders.

During the first Gay Pride in the historic old city, 3,000 lesbians and gays attended. In more recent years, between 650,000 and one million guests came to Cologne, so that the CSD Parade as the conclusion to Cologne Pride is valid today as one of Europe’s biggest queer events: Up to 120 floats and numerous pedestrian groups have taken part in the parade in previous years.
