Exhibition: Serena Katt – The Loss of Storytelling, Diss Corn Hall, Diss

What/Why:

I am interested in the fragile and amorphous relationship
that individuals and nations have with the past. Within my
work, I explore past events as a means of making sense
of the present asking, “How did we get here, politically,
emotionally and intellectually?”.
In recent years, I have contemplated my German
heritage. I am fascinated by the way in which Germany
erased its history and stories to move into a successful
future. My work gives voice to some of these forgotten
stories, hoping to shed some light into the dark past. In
my work you will see examples of printing, painting and a
combination of mixed media.
