Charcoal Making Workshop - Bristol by arnosvale

What/Why:

Saturday 4th August

Spend the day learning how to prepare wood to make charcoal, plus take a bag of charcoal home with you for your BBQ! The perfect craft gift for BBQ enthusiasts!

Spend your day with charcoal expert and freelance woodland manager Alex Arthur.

In a 6-hour workshop (including lunchbreak) Alex will demonstrate the craft of carbonisation, how to position and load a kiln, and the tree species suited for charcoal-making.

But you’ll also get a chance to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty, as Alex directs you in preparing wood, unloading the kiln, sorting and bagging charcoal made the day before and loading and lighting the kiln for an overnight burn.

You will be rewarded with your efforts by a bag of charcoal and bags of experience in this ancient woodland craft.

Spaces on this course are limited so book now to avoid disappointment.

Please note that this event is weather-dependent and requires a minimum number of participants to run.

This event will take place in our craft compound and it is physically active. Please wear sensible shoes and warm clothes you’re happy to get mucky to this event.

Tea and coffee will be provided but lunch is not included. Bring a packed lunch with you or try a delicious panini from our cafe!
