great music from the DJ, cheap drinks, space to dance and an eclectic crowd. what’s not to like. no cover to get in (apart from the coatroom fee of 2.50), and the indy and fun dance tunes just keep coming. space to chill with friends for a few drinks, or dance a few hours.

formerly known as Swagat, this is a reliable and cosy place for Nepalese food either in the evening or at lunchtime. I am writing this review having just returned from having a tasty lamb and ginger lunch curry there. generous portion of good quality lamb, tasty sauce, and nice rice and warm naan bread to accompany. lunch also includes a plate of the limited salad bar offering, and coffee to finish. despite it being late for the lunch rush, various other people came in, indicating that the place has generated some established custom due to consistent quality.
definitely worth a trip if you are in the area.

Some time ago I went there regularly. Nice to spend an evening with friends. Don´t be afraid of the sometimes long queue outside, even around midnight at -15°C…

Gorgeous place! Perfect, modern ambience, however not too cool (outside it is cold enough). Lovely separated sections within dining room, providing atmosphere of secrecy, bust still one area. Perfect fish in quality, preparation and presentation. Top Scandinavian cuisine! Happy to discover this place.

2 Points out of 5

Left my old review from 4 years ago below for historic comparison. Now downgraded from 5 stars to 2. Though food was still good on last visit (4 out of 5 stars), service was horrible. Very slow, even with basic drinks order, and then only half delivered. Staff needed several reminders to bring the full order. On a more general note, the service was rude, slow and really unprofessional. Really spoiled our meal to have the feeling that the staff really did not want to be there, and could not be bothered to even pretend to offer customer service.

======
This place is an old classic, having served the affluent and discerning of Helsinki for decades. The menu is a reliable rotation of well prepared, tasty European classic dishes made to feature Finnish ingredients where relevant. Everything we had on our list visit was tasty, from the freshly baked rolls, through the chanterelle soup, buckwheat blini with vendace roe, purple onion and sour cream, and a deft tournedos Rossini. Service was good and the place is a very pleasant one to spend a few hours with family and friends.

From the railway station, you can take a pleasant slow walk (about 10 minutes) to this landmark cafe.

People gather at this place, locals or foreigner residents or tourists. It is a core of Finnish social circle (even the national hero, Siberius often enjoyed drinks at this place). Like him, you might get inspired for artistic pursuits.

Food and drinks are fine. Services are reasonably efficient. It is located at the convenient place in any season (even winter of course).

1 Points out of 5

We had booked this hotel because it was highly recommended in the internet. But we were highly disappointed.

The room was very dark because of this tiny window. The bathroom and though the room smelled badly from the drains. The receptionist was very kind and sent the room maid, but our problem was not solved. The room looked liked self designed, the furniture was from a well-recognised Finnish designer, but indeed as someone said before, looked like IKEA style. So the design of the room and the expensive furniture did not match.

The breakfast buffet was very bad and remembered me a food battle in a very basic youth hostel. Nowadays hostels offer a higher standard than this hotel.

We’re not gonna return – sorry!

Small and professional bicycle rental company in the centre. We went first to another place but the owner was just too busy so we found this place, and it´s a good thing we did! The owner was very helpful and gave us so good tips, plus the prices are very good. Would gladly recommend this place to anyone!

“Rasha’s restaurant” is a small kebap fast-food restaurant.
The service was normal and very fast. I felt welcome.
The food was tasty for what you can expect of a kebap/döner.
And the prices are very good in relation to the size of the portions.
I would come back.

4 Points out of 5

The “Prego” is an Italian self-service restaurant. Whereas self-service means that you order at the counter and the food will then be delivered to your table.
I had some spicy pasta which was freshly made. Also I did not had to wait long for my food. The size of t he portion was good and for Finland the pricing was acceptable also.
There is some Italian atmosphere in the restaurant, but not too much to be cliché.
Only the service was a bit to “neutral-mooded”.
I would come back for my lunch break for example.
