    Hi,
Good idea. I am housebound at the moment as about to have baby number 2 and I am so huge I can hardly walk … not good.
Anyway I really do not consider myself well travelled and I cannot see me getting far for the next year or so - but would still love to find out more about other cultures - especially anything to do with the Arts.
A bit about me ? - not very exciting but I work in recruitment, I love all food but especially good seafood, I have an art degree that I did nothing with ( not bitter at all), and like many people I am guessing about half way through writing 3 different novels. I am on here as Birmingham but I actually live in a small town about 20 miles outside of Birmingham. Lived in Manchester for about 5 years and I sometimes miss the city life. Would love to hear if anyone has been to any galleries lately, or has any arts based projects on the go?
    Nikki

That’s very good that you writing a novel. I wondered how people find that much of words to write..Well I’m also a art lover and I’m planing to start a art protection company which will provides safety for art monuments. We will take some monthly or yearly fees and we will giving full security to their precious art monuments plus we also going to provide handsome insurance cover with this.from maintenance to security everything is included.

I am an artist for my sins but still trying to get my studio (in garden) set up since moving here. We do have some art groups and good gallery reviews though.

I never seem to get chance these days., I find it really frustrating. Not sure when life took over my desire to create - but it did somewhere. Hoping that when baby 2 makes an appearance I can manage to only work part time hours and find some time to get back to some art work. I did my degree in Aret and Manchester - did a few exhibitions - then nothing much since. I a kick up the ass to get me going again I think.
What sort of stuuf do you do? would be intersted to hear about it.

I have been the same the past year with moving and builders in etc. We bought this house for the studio in the garden and it is not working yet.
I do sculptures (a lot humourous) miniature figures and jewellery nowadays. My last exhibition was ceramic and papier mache sculptures. Sold a few pieces. Not sure how it will go now I am in the south. No contacts etc down here. Will be starting again from scratch in a way.

I love art but I don’t know how to create art. bessically I was a science student so I never got chance to do extra activity just study and sports. in the child hood I have a grip in paintings and sculpture making, crafting but as time gone my involvement become less.

I think anyone can create art - as long as they have sufficient time and self-belief. The difficult bit is actually making any money out of it!!

  • 30 June 2008

Very true. Who is to say what you have created isn’t art? If it is to you then it is.
Draftsmanship can be taught too. I had students who said “I can’t” was a bit of a challenge but they went on to exhibit.

  • 30 June 2008

Yeah I know what you mean. To be honest the guys that I studied with that did go on to do well were probably the poorest draughtsmen but the most determined and very good at self-publicism.

  • 30 June 2008

    It is all self belief.

That’s 100 % true its in us only. I think money making from art is going to be easy in future. In India Art is in peak to popular now a days. Now many fund houses creating art fund who only investing in Art but the return can be go long time so I think art can be a great way of money making in future.

the real thing here parents want that their children should be a doctor or engineer but now things are changing. Now a days parents easy going with their children. Now youngsters going for new optionslike Music, singing, DJ, RJ,Art, I call it JOB 2.0

Thanks to Media.. for making this change

I think it is great that cultures change to make art more important unfortunately in Uk funding is getting less and less.
To go back to what I said before..I spent 2 years teaching sculpture and wire and bead jewellery making to the blind and visually impaired and folk with learning disability.
I was so amazed at the work..the blind produced stuff I would have been proud to have done and the learning disability kids and adults just got on, quite un-selfconsciously, and said look what I have made.

Well here also some work groups and NGOs doing the same. One NGO called AndhJan Mandal ( means Blind people group) doing this kind of work. They making candles, perfumes, greeting cards, gift articles etc and they selling these things in to market in cheap rate and the group distributing the profits to blind people and some for NGO development.

I always buying things from them to support the good work and I really wondered that how they able to make such beautiful thing !
