Indeed you should! especially just now as the weather is great. Ideal wandering about weather. What sort of stuff do you like? Pubs? Culture? Food?

Hello, Good luck with the group.
I know you were asking Deadyuk, But can I join in, I mostly like cycling, walking and flat water cannoeing. I’m a single parent so I get a lot of opportunities with my boys.

Hi Everyone! Hope you’re all feeling fine? Strathclyde Park is a place you could enjoy all of those activities with your sons, Alastair. Also, although I have never been myself I have heard that Millport (ferry from Ayr) is a brilliant little island to go to where you can hire bikes and go exploring.

Hi from Wales! I used to live in Greenock as a child and I come back when I can as I have friends in Glasgow - also we hope to move back to the area in a year or two, which is very exciting! Yes, I agree Millport is great - I cycled round once long ago and it was great fun. We (that’s my husband I’m talking about!) love exploring and walking. We’re fond of Bute too and the Cowal Peninsula. We’re not really into pubs or concerts. Because we’re vegetarians we’re always on the look out for good cafes with a lot of options. Glasgow is great for them!

I’m from Glasgow as well and only moved out to the sticks last year, still come into the city for some reason or other a couple of times a month.

Guess you’re missing city life a little bit Gohn! My dream is to live in a refurbished cottage in the country in amongst lots of trees, have a reliable car and be close enough to visit a city when I feel like it! Perhaps now you have the best of both worlds I hope!

I’m definitely missing some aspects of it, Glasgow is a brilliant city for having so many facilities and services close by, but when it comes to day-to-day life living in the country is great; nothing beats having my own green space, my avatar picture is taken from my garden. When needed, from home I can be parked in the city centre in 30 minutes (and that’s sticking to the speed limits), I don’t know if I would have managed it much quicker from the Southside when I lived there.

It sounds like a little bit of heaven to me Gohn and the photograph is beautiful!

The picture was taken last Autumn, getting to that time of year again and the leaves have started to fall, spent some time yesterday splitting wood for the stove, now I probably wouldn’t be doing that in Glasgow.

Blimey - no updates for a while :) I'm studying at Jordanhill for a year, though resident in Perth and English by birth. Spent a lot of time in Glasgow as my parents were brought up here!

I have noticed that Qype is very London-centric. We should organise things up here! Plenty of restaurants and bars etc. :)

  • 27 October 2009

As you can see, people on QYPE seem to set up Groups for the sake of being Admins then do nothing. Check out various other Groups and you will find the same. Once they have clocked up loads of points and had their Freebies, which they used to get, they disappear. As they say "There is a reason for everything !!!"

  • 27 October 2009

Ah, didn't even know you got points for stuff like that!

I'm mainly agrieved that virtually every Qype event I get emails about is in London. The Page title of the front page is even "London restaurants, bars...." etc if you're not logged in when you get there.

They don't get points for being admins or setting up Groups but have to set up Goups etc to become admins. Its when they become admins they disappear. We also used to get Freebies based on points earned.
