Thought I would start a new thread devoted to new developments on the Manchester scene i.e. new bars, restaurants, shops, and any other news you think QYPErs might find interesting.
To get the ball rolling, I’ll start with a few bits of news from Fallowfield:
Trof has bought the house next door and plans to expand, not quite sure what I think about that….
The fairly dodgy Drop Inn has been taken over and is now the ironically-named Ram & Shackle…
Bar XS has disappeared to be replaced by Remedy, not sure what effect will have on XS’s famous Malarkey comedy nights…
and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it bar Snook (opposite Fusion noodle bar) has gone to be replaced by Something Blue, which is actually what it was before it was Snook.
I’ve not been in any of these new places, so please try them out and post reviews on here to let us know if they’re any good… ( :
If you’ve got news from your part of town or from anywhere, let us know!
Cheers

There’s a new deli/sandwich shop opp town hall unsure of the name, and there’s a quirky looking thing just opened on piccadilly gardens with ps3 gaming at the front, looks like a jungle and next to Starbucks! Did anyone else notice that Barnados have opened a shop on Piccadilly approach?

Some Chorlton news - a couple of new shops have opened on the same row as Pi - Little Nut Tree Toys (which I assume sells toys) at one end, and a shop called Wowie Zowie (not a clue what they will be selling, might be worth a look!) at the other.
The controversial Tescos will finally be built on the site of the Esso garage that closed last week.
It looked as though Proof Bar (opposite the Sedge Lynn Weatherspoons) had shut down a couple of weeks ago but it now appears to have re-opened. Meanwhile, the new building across the road from there is going to be a British restaurant and is apparently owned by Dulcimer.
If you’ve got any local news anywhere in Manchester, please put it here!

Hi, just found this thread and thought I'd add my tuppence worth. I don't know how new it is, but I dropped into Cafe Persia in Chorlton, and enjoyed some great homemade baklava and other homemade middle eastern desserts - really good stuff, owner-manager is himself Iranian.
Other than that, watch out for a promotional campaign by Transcendental Meditation around Manchester, led by certified teachers John Markham and Annie Arrowsmith . Also, join the Transcendental Meditation Manchester page on Facebook for latest events and news. What I would say is that although many people talk about meditation these days, there is only one programme that is proven to be effective, and that is Transcendental Meditation - so check it out!
