I wonder if anyone else has news of bike projects.
As my regular contacts know, I finally managed to get my cx500 (30 years old) back on the road earlier this year. Recently, I had a problem with the rear brake sticking on - a problem I was informed by its previous owner is a common one. On removing and freeing the rear wheel, I was amazed to find the brake shoes in good nick as I haven't changed them in the five or so years I've had it. Unfortunately, I also found that the swinging arm was basically a lacework of rust and was barely holding the wheel on!
On checking all the suppliers in the UK, I find that this is almost as difficult to replace as the exhaust was. One firm quotes 378 euros, then goes on to say that the part is unavailable anyway!
A friend has ordered me one from a contact in USA - $20 plus $8 shipping. I will post the results of this order when I receive the part.
Meanwhile, I'm back on four wheels!

My project is restoring a Yamaha XS 750 C…there weren’t that many of them so when I saw it I thought that’s worth doing up

it’s still got a silly seat on and the wrong brake cylinder at the front but it’s coming together slowly.

    putting a photo up.

Know the feeling – 2 steps forward one step back huh? But it’ll be worth it in the end!

    worth it in the end….maybe…8-)

the worst bit is the slipping clutch (clutch replacement sometime) and the blowing main fuse – it has a regulator which is a set of points and a shunt to earth – how high tech is that – well pretty good for 1975 really 8-)……probably just needs replacing

and then get rid of the red paintwork and (in the words of the Rolling Stones) Paint it Black..
