As far as I know, Qype is fairly new in Great Britain and France. I’m curious: How did you become aware of Qype in your country?

How do you like it, and how does Qype compare to its competition (in your opinion)?

As far as competitors in the UK go, I think Qype.co.uk has the best site. TrustedPlaces.com would be second, then perhaps Tipped.co.uk, but Tipped get basically no traffic and are dying it would seem.

The other two competitors, WeLoveLocal.com and TouchLocal.com are very much SEO-based sites (meaning designed for GoogleBot), with community an after thought. TouchLocal claim to have a lot of traffic, but they have very little content.

Alexa.com would suggest that Qype is winning.

Here’s the current Alexa ranking of the sites you mentioned:

12,111: Qype.com
41,838: TouchLocal
45,843: Qype.co.uk
61,625: welovelocal
68,732: trustedplaces
98,387: Tipped

I have no idea how TouchLocal are getting their traffic - since (as you mentioned already) they’re lacking reviews of many major places in London.
