We watch too many films and say stuff about them. We're particularly interested in amazingly weird and awful films. Maybe even organise a bad movie night where we'll all watch the same bad movie and make disparaging Mystery Science Theatre chit-chat about it on-line. That would be really geeky.

Drugstore Cowboy and, by the same director, My Own Private Idaho (ok, so the latter is drug-related rather than drug-centric).
Agree with Baldrick… Man with the Golden Arm is brilliant.
The French Connection.

Also… not a movie, but if you fancy watching one of the finest plots and sets of characterisation committed to celluloid in the last few years, buy seasons 1-5 of The Wire. Best TV show ever made. And it has drugs in it.

And also The Holy Mountain and El Topo by Jodorowsky are so druggy that you get high just handling the dvds.

Sample scene: the hero rides the crane into the magician’s tower, where the magician defeats him and demonstrates his power/the worthlessness of money by turning his shit into gold. And you know what? the hero’s shit, and the magician can turn him into gold as well! Now let’s burn our money and lose our egos in a bucket!

permanent midnight with ben stiller back when he was trying to be a real actor, shooting up heroin while writing episodes of Al. And Owen Wilson’s in it as well, also doing a lot of drugs. And Liz hurley.

Don’t forget Rush, with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jason Patrick!

And since documentary films are allowed, the Cocaine Cowboys is pretty interesting, althought it doesn’t hold together all the way. Three part documentary series called Cocaine from 2005 is good stuff too.
