Movie Buffs

Movie Buffs

We watch too many films and say stuff about them. We're particularly interested in amazingly weird and awful films. Maybe even organise a bad movie night where we'll all watch the same bad movie and make disparaging Mystery Science Theatre chit-chat about it on-line. That would be really geeky.

To honour the passing of a legend. Whats your favourite Paul Newman film/performance.

Mine would have to be The Sting. Brilliant story and some excellent performances all round.

Have to admit I’m not clued up enough to be a huge Paul Newman fan. So I’ll settle with admiring his good looks instead!

Respect to the late great!! Of course the Thousand Island Dressing is fabulous. Oh, and am I the only one who went “What the f*??” when “Butch Cassidy…” suddenly turned into a video promo for “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head”?? (Burt Bacharach… the man who inspired Paddy McAloon and the Prefab Sprout guys!!)

Paul Newman was a great actor, very handsome and true! He appears to have been a lovely person, down to earth and compassionate too! Remember 2 of his quotes from old interviews: “Why go out and eat hamburger when I’ve got steak at home!” and “Money doesn’t make you happy but it sure pays for a lot of psychiatrists’ bills!”

Saw Faye Dunnaway being interviewed by Jonathan Ross recently! She’s looking spectacular, was lovely and is still going strong! Was “Bonny and Clyde” not a brilliant film too?

Has to be The Sting, is there a better film?

Hud, Cool Hand Luke, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof…

    Cat on a Hot Tin Roof . . . . . The Sting . . . . Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
