Does the Ninja level still have to be approved by staff, and does ninja still give you permission to move the map icon?

Edit: Ok, now a ninja, so can see that I can edit the map marker position. Cool.

    great idea sam!

You could also have "bad badges" - people who are blatant PR people, make too many duplicate places ... getting into Digg "vote up, vote down" area here though - massive database issues.

not sure if this sends the right message though, and may be too many false positives - I have made dupes by accident because original place was on the map wrongly.

How about a "City Experts" badge? For people who really seem to know the ins and outs of their locale? And perhaps country specific badges, for those who have reviewed the top ten most populous cities in their country, for example?

I really like Amazon's model of "most helpful reviewers". A lot of reviews on here are one liners, or by people who have signed up specifically to flame or praise one venue.

Even the Insider and Ninja badges aren't necessarily rewarded to those Qypers who have written the most helpful or informative reviews. So a badge based on Amazon's model of reviewers who are voted most helpful based on other Qyper's votes?

I'm all for a 1,000 review badge and perhaps not departing too far from the ninja theme you could call it a sensei badge or samuri badge or something :-)

Also there should be a chocolate badge for the best chocolate guides or perhaps most chocolate shops reviewed or chocolate shops reviewed in at least 5 different countries or something. For sure. Ya. :-)

I'm working on that super ninja badge for sure!

i like the 1000 badges idea....
also what about a nature badge in the shape of a leaf for having reviewed say 50 parks or such outdoors places ?

I love all these new badge ideas!!!

    Other ideas:

    • Qyper of the Week
    • Radar raver - x reviews via iPhone App
    • something to promote creating "helpful" and "compliments" (as well as receiving) ... I am still not sure how all that works or helps promote individuals scoring... to get me into the habit of doing it.
    • one review a day for 40 days badge?
  • 25 May 2010

Ooooh, they're all fab badge ideas. Also, "Radar Raver" sound like something straight out of Qype's very own marketing dept :-)

How about a few time specific badges? For example 10 reviews in a day, 30 in a month or 200 in a year.

I would love a 'History Buff' badge! I like reviewing archives, libraries and churches... and museums...
Oh and how about a 'Cafe Afficionado' badge, or something like that? Though I haven't got a clue how you'd go about rating and assigning those kinds of thmed badges. But you must be clever boffins, so I'm not worried.
Whoops: Totally Wired is about cafes, I thought it was Internet and Techy stuff - a rebrand might be good?

Grey cells are switched to on: 'Local Hero' for people who review specific areas thoroughly?

Love the whole badge concept: I'm definitely going to do more reviews.

    Oh and:
'Crafts Addict' (wool shops and any other crafts related things. Knitter will rule the world!)
    'Landmark Expert'

...if it's too difficult to automatically award some of these themed badges: could people perhaps apply to get specific ones and you'll award them if you think they've done well enough?
In that case we could have some badges for 'most unusual places', 'quirkiest outing destinations' and similar! I'd love that!
