Just found this handy site, mostly US based but they do have a London stream:

worth keeping an eye on I think.
Anyone got any other tips for avoiding snarl ups etc?
Work within walking distance of your house ;)
haha, good tip Grover. A similar tip is: don’t live in London :P
We all love the tube though really, don’t we?
\me attaches tube stations just because I can
hehe. well i used to live on richmond hill - the commute was a stroll past here for 10 mins, nightmare!

Check out the TfL’s new attempt at making ‘it easier to get on and off crowded tubes’

maybe they should just try and make them less crowded?
Maybe not quite as bonkers as you think Linus. This system actually works pretty well in Japan, and especially Tokyo. Oddly even on packed last subway home on a Friday evening, the drunkest of Tokyoites will manage to stagger into one of the queues and form an orderly line to get on. Couldn’t dig up a great pic online (and didn’t take one myself), but if you have a look at this link, it shows the white lines that people queue in http://bp0.blogger.com/_GnYpak0SUXg/RmA8×3VngfI/AAAAAAAAE…
Think our tubes bad - this always makes me feel a lot better. It’s funny, pretty terrible, but kind of funny:

Also a great site that I’ve recently found is one called www.lastrounds.com which has all the times of the last trains from each stop on any night of the week.
One way to liven things up is to take the stairs!! Well I have only ever done it at Covent Garden but the sense of achievement lasts you most the day. What kept me going up the 99 steps was the knowledge that to have given up would only have meant going back down again, far more scary.
