It’s Sunday, you’re too hung over to attempt a roast yourself and your mum lives miles away. Who do you turn to? Who does the best roasties, the greatest gravy, and rhubarb crumble and custard to die for?

I’m nominating The Priory (not the Kate Moss one, the pub in SW8). You get your own gravy boat for God’s sake, and being a northerner gravy is very important to me. Also - it’s great food, not too expensive, they haven’t tried to ‘gastropub’ it up, and good puds too!

if you want to nominate you favourite sunday roast just tag the place on Qype with the words ‘sunday roast’.

Not so good - an Italian place, I know but I have really difficulties to say where I had a good Sunday roast in Cardiff or in Aberystwyth. No good Sunday roasts in Machynlleth.

Private people here make the best roasts I have tried: DELWYN TIBBOTT, TREFELIN, PENTYRCH - CARDIFF - the best Welsh lamb with mint sauce. No pub or restaurant can beat it!!!!!! Diolch, Delwyn.
Best Trifle: GILL DAVEY & MIKE DAVEY, Ynys, North Wales.

I think the Turf Tavern in Oxford does a pretty amazing roast dinner. Quite pricey, but probably the best i’ve had in a pub (not as good as mum’s though!)

Mmmmh, the list is getting longer here. Fantastic ;-)

Really fantastic! I love Sunday lunch and sometimes a good place to find can be quite hard. Roasties, yes!! Lamb, pork and beef - all count as roasties, is this right?

The Notting Grill in Notting Hill. It’s owned by a TV chef, it’s pricey, but sweet mama, it’s tasty. Nice place, too.

Sweet mama (I like that!!) - forget the money, it’s the taste that matters, isn’t it!! I envy you. I do not get this here in Wales at all. Which TV chef if I may ask?

Nothing beats a good Sunday roast!

Ginger as in hair or as in “cook”? I think he has red hair - so has my fiancee who is English ;-). Funny! Antony Worrall Thompson - no wonder his roast is mouth-watering ;-)

I agree, the waterpoet is a great place. Good traditional roast. Don’t forget to have a desert, they are life-changing. You can watch football, aswell. And if you are a smoker, there is a cozy covert garden.
