Other than searching online, I suggest walking around the Grindel area and keeping your eyes open for tacked-up notices. Grindel is where the university is located and the main student hangout area, there are many notice boards. Competition in this area is high - if you see a notice for a flat, grab it - and run like the wind!
Another place to check would be on the wall inside of the “Thai Cowboys” Imbiss on Susannenstrasse (Sternschanze). Many folks tack things up there as well.

another way for accommodation is Wohngemeinschaft (WG) that is flat sharing. If you don’t have any problem living people you don’t know and you need a cheaper solution, it is convenient. It might be also fun not to stay alone. Here are the website collection i have so far:

I’m moving out of my flat at the end of the month: 3 rooms in altona, quite nice, 675 including everything. Let me know if someone’s interested.

60 square meters in Altona Altstadt. It’s a nice flat. Send me an email if you’re interested.lucasinhamburg edited this post 8 January 2008
