BlueSofty: I appreciate your responses and I’m not trying to be confrontational, but it is not our “bad luck” for not clicking. It is a misrepresentative and unclear e-mail.

Also, “no-one can change your non-click on the email” is not true either.

and I’m bluesofty no caps not two words thanks

  • 24 November 2008

Of course no one can change your non click. The conditions apply to everyone. It is not unclear, loads of people spotted it, even if it was too late. And , please, could you do me the courtesy of getting my tag right please.

    All -
Personally I don’t think it’s worth getting angry about but what Qype should learn from this situation is that when you have a full in-box and busy days and you receive an intriguing notification such as the Amazon voucher e-mail, any need to register, even for established Qypers, should be made very clear at the top of the mail. I tend to skim whatever comes in so I get the gist of it and can go back to it later. It would also be good to state clearly that this is a first come first served sort of enticement right from the start, as opposed to getting the “sorry but you missed out” sort of line when you DO go back to find more info. All I can say is I’ve learned my lesson, but I hope Qype has, too, because rightly or wrongly this has left a bad taste in my mouth. Ironic, for a foodie ;-)

Well said. But every one got the same email, and most clicked. Always read the small print….

  • 24 November 2008

It was unclear. Many people didn’t spot it. Qype should at the very least learn from it, hopefully apologise, and I could argue that they should even go further.

  • 24 November 2008

As a solicitor, I beg to differ.

Gohn is right: now that notquiteox copied it in here, I recall very clearly that the email read:
'All you have to do to claim your voucher is review 50 of your favourite places, anywhere in the world, before the end of November and a £50 amazon voucher will be yours.
You can get started right away by clicking here.’

It was pretty clear to me.

@notquiteox: to say 'And I think that if you clicked there you got a lot more bumph plus something about registering. But I honestly took that to be for people who weren’t yet registered for Qype.’ is being dismissive. Clicking that link took you to a page where it was blatantly clear that you had to register for the voucher. You’re admitting that you saw it, and made assumptions about it.

Look, I really can’t say overall what the truth is. I’m only an individual. I spotting the requirements pretty clearly, but maybe I was lucky. Obviously at least two other individuals did not. But we’re only single data points. Qype should look at the overall levels of who registered without problem and who complains. If they find that significant numbers missed the registration requirement, then they’ve probably made the offer confusing and I hope they do something about it. If there’s only a small few folks who missed it - because there always will be - then it is, unfortunately, tough luck for those few.

    What bugs me is this:
@notquiteox saying 'I really don’t find comments like “So I 'm sorry but bad luch for not clicking” helpful. If you haven’t got this problem and you haven’t got anything constructive to add I’m not really sure why you are commenting.’
You’re making all sorts of assumptions there, not least of which is that Qype were misleading (which anyone who missed out would probably feel). The most serious assumption, though, is that this forum should only be for consenting opinion.

As I said above, you’re only one data point. What if 1568 other people all registered without any problem, and you were the only one who missed it? Wouldn’t that be an important bit of info in your argument with Qype? Don’t you want to hear any evidence from peopel like myself that had no problems registering that might tell a different story than the one you want to hear?

This is discussion. It’s not controversy until someone takes offense.

I agree with Timinator. I’ve learnt my lesson - act quickly and click on everything! but I still think that Qype should take this as an indication that a bit more clarity wouldn’t hurt.

  • 24 November 2008

We hear stories everyday about people being caught out on some holiday, insurance, or whatever because they did not read the 'small print’. Qype used normal print! What’s clearer than normal print??? If you agree with, Timinator, who has been quite clear, there are no clauses left to argue on. On other forums people have admitted they did not read 'properly’, not blaming anyone else.

  • 24 November 2008

    Actually, I’m not arguing.

  • 24 November 2008

Then why the 'but’ in your previous post?

  • 24 November 2008

When I get home I’ll be contacting Qype directly and complaining that, in my opinion and as evidenced by there being other people on their forums who have had the same problem, their e-mail wording was unclear.

As Timinator said, if only 4 of us made that mistake where hundreds worked it out, then so be it, c’est la vie. But if many people made that mistake then it should be followed up.

As Epicurienne said towards the beginning of this thread, it does leave a bit of a sour taste in the mouth about the Qype experience. Since this is a forum, not a courtroom, I’m entitled to say that.

  • 24 November 2008

    I think we’re a bit past caring

  • 24 November 2008

Well I’m not. But thankfully, since you are, you won’t bother posting any more unhelpful remarks.
