A wonderful area in Thessaloniki. Despite the old triumphal arch it is so much fun to see the life going on around this place. Cafés, restaurants and all the people meeting there. Historically and culturally a must-see in Thessaloniki.

Stayed here once only with my wife…Not bad, but have had better. What we didn’t know is that there isn’t much in Malia so hotel life is quite important. Food was very good, as was the service. Beach was kept immaculate and very peacefull. However, don’t think we’ll be going back…More to do in Hersonisou.

Beautiful resort with a fantastic harbour…problem is – not so good for the lesser able bodied traveller or even the"older" adult. Far too many steps that seem to go on forever. Sure does wear you out and make you breathless. Do not recommend for angina sufferers!! Plenty of good tavernas and street marketing….always carry loose change in copious amounts, plus obtain the ability to " bargain ".

€4 for a cappuccino…
A rude parking attendant (but hey, they’ve got valet!)…
And insufficient staff…

Happily, they have beautiful high ceilings, complete with velvet draperies, gold paint, fake marble, versailles-esque mirrors… they’re just missing the smoke! No wait. This is Greece. Plenty of smoke. Yes, with mirrors. I said that.

All this to say that the place is a bit naff… But it has the benefit of valet (if you ignore the fact that he’s a git) and (aha!) is of a particularly sunny disposition given its orientation and the lack of anything high enough blocking the light of the post midday sun.

It’s my new favourite spot for an afternoon coffee in the sun and making like a kitten.

An excellent upstairs bar in the heart of Kalithea, Athens. Enough staff to always attend to your needs, the staff maintain an demographic which avoids teenagers. The music is loud without being intrusive and the resident DJ mixes classic tunes with more recent. The snacks are good and liberally provided, the alcohol selection is good.

Akrogialia Taverna; Skala Potamis (Thassos, by incognito100)

5 Points out of 5

Akrogialia Taverna is located facing the sea in the resort of Skala Potamis in Thassos. It a really authentic taverna with blue being the predominate colour and is like something out of a picture postcard. It is small and family run with only about 14 tables outside. There are a few inside, but you then loose the ambience if you take that route. It is family run and everything is done at a slow relaxed pace so do expect to wait a while for your food to be delivered. The food itself is freshly cooked. It is well prepared, very tasty and slightly cheaper than some of its competitors. They give you a complimentary glass of Ouzo when ordering We loved it here and felt we were back in the real Greece. In our opinion it is best suited to couples although Greeks did eat here some with children but the tended to eat after 9 o’clock which we presume is in line with their way of life. It is encouraging to see the locals eating at a restaurant as this usually means it is true Greek cooking and not a Tourist restaurant,

5 Points out of 5

An excellent beach side taverna in the resort of Golden Beach on the island of Thassos. Used by the locals and tourists alike it is a popular taverna which a lovely outlook. Spectacular sunsets can be seen here.. It is an old style Greek taverna with the blue chairs and plastic tablecloths No Frills!!. The food is very authentic and is best suited to couple who appreciate a prolonged and relaxing meal. The service is friendly and efficient but in true Greek style a mite slow. You are given a complimentary ouzo when ordering and a complimentary dessert at the end of your meal which is a nice touch. For us it was excellent all round.
