Putting your photos on Qype

What photos are allowed on Qype?

The answer to this question is basically anything that isn't offensive!

• A profile photo can be anything non-offensive
• A place page photo should be of that place.
• Group photos are again completely up to you, but they can be deleted by group administrators if deemed inappropriate.

How can I add a profile photo?

You can upload a profile photo from your My Qype -> settings page. Simply browse to the location on the file on your computer and click the "Save" button.

How do I upload a photo to a place?

On a place page (e.g. The London Eye) there is a section Recent photos of this place and just under that is a link to Upload Photo. Clicking on this should bring up a file browser window for you to select the photo(s) to upload.

How do I upload a photo to a group?

On a group page (e.g. the music group) there is a tab called Photos. When you click the tab you will see a link to Upload Photo. Clicking on this should bring up a file browser window for you to select the photo(s) to upload.

How can I upload more than one photo at a time?

When uploading to a Place or a Group on Qype you can upload more than one image at a time. There are a number of ways to do this.

You can simply click the "Upload Photo", select one file, and then while it is uploading click on "Upload Photo" again and select another photo. Qype will simply add the second photo to the upload queue.

You can also select multiple photos by holding the CTRL or SHIFT buttons on your keyboard while browsing the images on your computer.

When I click on "Upload Photo" I'm told that I need to install Adobe Flash!

Qype's photo uploading tool uses Adobe Flash 8+, so you'll need to install it, or upgrade to the latest version for uploading to work. If you click "ok" on the prompt you'll be taken to Adobe's Flash website, where you should be able to install the latest version of Flash by following the instructions.

When I click on "Upload Photo" nothing happens!

Are you using Firefox? If so there should be a yellow box along the top of the Qype page asking whether you want to install missing plugins. Qype's photo uploading tool uses Adobe Flash, so you'll need to follow click the button to install the missing plugin.

Are you using Internet Explorer and just successfully installed Adobe Flash? If so, you'll need to refresh the Qype page to get it to recognise the Flash plugin.

I've installed Adobe Flash but still cannot upload!

Sometimes the Internet Explorer browser doesn't install all the components of Flash correctly. To completely uninstall Flash click here and follow the instructions. After removing Flash, install it again.
