Delicious food and great service. Ordered the fresh pasta with the mushrooms that were special that day and I did not regret it. Also the starters, some Bianchetti and Carpaccio were absolutely worth their money. We sat outside on the nice piazza, but having a aquick look on the inside showed a really nice ambiente and fabolous pastries.

I prezzi nella norma e la possibilità di scegliere anche il tempo della lampada.

Eataly (Torino, by ManEater)

5 Points out of 5

The Eataly is one of the temples of the Slow Food movement in Italy. The place is amazing, located at the former production site of FIAT in Torino, in an old Vermouth factory… At first, it looks a bit like a huge, normal supermarket with a market atmosphere – until you notice what is actually going on.

I strolled around and found only high quality stuff, from pasta, fish, over meat, wine, spirits and many other things. There are climate chambers where Prosciutto di Parma is ripening, or another one with cheese. You may just enter and watch and smell. Incredible.

Then, you get things to eat at every second corner. It sounds exaggerated, but I had the best Pizza in my life there.
Of course, everything is crowded. Which actually fits to Turin, a place where you don´t find a Starbucks in the center or other international food chains. Moreover, there is hardly a big block with a warehouse like in all the other big cities of Europe. Surprising, indeed. The people obviously don´t like that and try to stick to their own character.

Back to Eataly: go there if you like to see, smell, and taste some of the best food you can get! The goods are not cheap, but worth the price. Only the wine looked sometimes a bit overpriced. But who cares on such a day ;-)

De Wan (Torino, by impavidus)

5 Points out of 5

Sadly not many independent shops are left in Turin these days. Only about twenty years or so ago you could find an amazing array of independent shops from glove makers, milliners and so on. De Wan is one of the very few left with a proper cachet, in the most desirable shopping area of the centre of Turin. Location aside this is the ultimate gift shop, with an outstanding selection of high quality gifts, from custom jewellery, watches, scarves to pictures and more. I make a point of buying something from this shop every time I visit Turin and I have never been disappointed. Their service is excellent and the assistants go out of the way to please and spend time with you. This has the inevitable result that you end up buy more than you had bargained for, but hey, it's good stuff (and not even outrageously expensive for what it is) and a guaranteed hit when you get back to the UK. Anyway, we should support shops like these where quality, individual service and old fashioned values are still high on their agenda, so give it a try when you are in Turin.

Really beautiful square, day and night... It is open at one end, with a view over the River Po to the Villa Genero park opposite. It is surrounded by arcade galleries (part of Turin's 18 km of arcades) all around, so if it's raining you can walk around past the shops without getting wet.

Excellent restaurant inside a covered arcade, so quite a discreet location. An elegant setting with prices to match (we paid 50 euros each) - high by local standards. But the food is really excellent and the wines too. The service was perfect: friendly, discreet, with just the right amount of attention. I was a little concerned that the offer of Italian cuisine and sushi might be a bad sign, but I was obviously wrong. I would definitely go back.
