City tours in Luino, the largest and most important city on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, close to Swiss border. A guided walk is a good way to explore the town (in Luino there are many things to do, its weekly market on Wednesdays and much more). One of the best hotels on Lake Maggiore, in my opinion. Close to Swiss border, the hotel is an old renovated villa, with an English landscape park: the look of the hotel is wonderful and attractive. Its restaurant is characterized by pastel colors, and the best dishes are usually the vegetarian ones, as well as grilled meat and fish dishes. The view on the lake is superb, especially in summer. Indubitably one of the best hotels in the Varese area. This hotel is a four star structure situated on lake Maggiore, close to the Swiss border. Surrounded by a small park, this hotel, a Liberty, late 17th century mansion, has a spectacular view on the lake. The tourist information office in Luino is the ideal reference point for information about the city and surrounding area (Lake Maggiore); especially during the summer and the market days on Wednesday, the office is very crowded and offers tourist brochures, road maps and hiking maps of the area, information on local events, timetables of local transportation in the region. In my opinion, this pizzeria is one the best in town, not far from the lake, cheap and with a great quality of pizza (even if it is not typical of northern Italy) and pasta. The staff is really kind and the restaurant has great spacious rooms and a varandah. Very clean, friendly atmosphere and not expensive. Very good! (andre, 22-03-2010) 5

If you are looking for Accommodation in Luino and want to be central, and AT HOME, than you have to stay at the Hotel ANCORA ( the Anchor in english) it is in the centre of all activeties right on the Lake, next to the Lago Maggiore Ferry station. You could not wish for better. The Owner, Antonio, takes you in as if you are family and fusses over you in his own sincere way. He waited up for us until 3 am whilst we where partying at Tripolinis. After our eight or ninth visit and consequent late nights we now have a key to the front door The Rooms are clean and spacious and we look forward to our next stay as it truly is like "coming home " (pedrokaletsch, 11-04-2008) 5
