Four Seasons Hotel (Tōkyō, by lovellpatrick)

5 Points out of 5

I have stayed in the Four Seasons Hotel (Marunouchi, Tokyo) for over a month. Whilst staying in Tokyo, I’ve been completely lost in translation, but more importantly, I really loved it and I seriously enjoyed every minute of my holiday in Japan.

My hotel room had a Bose iPod/iPhone dock player together with a Bose DAB Radio/CD player, a 38-40`` widescreen Sharp 3D HDTV with a Blu-ray/DVD player combined installed with it, together with Panasonic speakers, beside the bed and in the bedroom.

The bathroom toilettes that the Four Seasons Hotel provide you with, are supplied by L’Occitane en Provence, and that I have to say, that is very upper class. The hotel staff are really nice and friendly and very helpful and they speak very good American English as well.

The internet access in this hotel is much better than back in the UK, and its 40-80% faster than the BT broadband, now that’s what I call “High Speed Internet.” I could download and upload stuff to and from the internet and it will less than 2 minutes flat.

This Four Seasons Hotel is designed mostly for business travellers and the airline cabin crew groups as their regular guests and it’s not very touristy, which is what I like about Tokyo on the whole. No wonder why it’s so quiet here, without the noisy tourists.

The Four Seasons Hotel in Marunouchi,Tokyo is more expensive than the Mayfair, London branch, but the service you get in return is so superb, (i.e. you get what pay for), And more importantly you are literally in the centre of Tokyo, only moments away from the Imperial Palace.

It feels like I’m in the year 3025, whenever I go to Japan.
The hotel staff and hotel guests are really nice and polite.

5 Points out of 5

I stayed here at the Hotel Nikko for only 3-4 weeks, but it was okay.
Although having said that, the Hotel Nikko feels and looks very old school.
But least, I was in Japan.

The main thing I liked about my stay here at the Hotel Nikko
was that my hotel room had a really nice a view.

That’s what I liked most about the Hotel Nikko,
the Tokyo skyline scenery that includes the Tokyo Tower.

This hotel in Tokyo has one of the best rooms-with-a-view feel.
And yet again, the hotel staff here at the Hotel Nikko do not
speak very good English.

So therefore I am really lost in translation again.
But I really like it, and that’s all that matters.

5 Points out of 5

This Monocle branch is totally out of this world.
I felt like the only Brit in the whole of Tokyo whilst visiting Monocle.

For anymore who wishes to visit Japan,
the Monocle branch in Tokyo is seriously worth a visit.

And the coffee here at Monocle is really nice,
and it tastes totally different and much better than back home in London.

The Monocle staff here are all Japanese, none of them speak
a single word of English, but I really like it that way.
Therefore, I’m totally lost in translation.

Real Italian taste and nice combination with japanese ingredients.
You can get nice dishes at the country side in Japan.
However the waitress, seems to be the wife of the owner, has not had enough hospitality, she never let me do the tasting before placing the bottle of wine on the table.

270 (Tōkyō, by Alex G)

4 Points out of 5

Among hundreds of shops restaurants etc there are (several in this area) places you have to go ! As a traditional Japanese bar (izakaya) 270 has a wide range of alcohol and foods (but of course, like a real Japanese, you will take a beer and some yakitori to restore yourself after a hard working day ;-) )
But why the name is “270” ? Simply because everything in the menu is at 270 yens !!! (be careful about the different and traditional fees in addition which can increase dramatically the price but that’s the same thing everywhere in tokyo)
And talking about the menu, you have to order on a tablet pc ! the waitresses giving you only what you ordered on that.
As a conclusion, even if there are several 270 in the area (and probably a thousand in the whole city ), I prefer the one in front of the Shibuya 109 building (foods have a better taste there)
Must check it in !

5 Points out of 5

While I was completely lost in translation in my four week holiday in Tokyo,
I then came across this beautiful Savile Row store in Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi Hills.

It came to my discovery that the retail prices of the UK imported Savile Row goods in Japan are hideously expensive.
But the goods are hard-to-find back home in the UK.

Nonetheless, the retail staff seem really nice and very friendly, unlike London.

The cufflinks are exclusive for the Richard James Tokyo branch and they were made in the UK, for Japanese export only.

I have to admit that I have never seen cufflinks like those in the UK.

I asked them if I can take a few photos with my Leica camera, and they said, “はい、あまりにも多くすることはできませんが、” (which translates as: “Yes you can, but too many”), I said thank you in Japanese to the retail store manager and he seems really polite and civil.
