Having stayed at Bamburi Beach on many occasions I would recommend the hotel. Staff are marvellous and they can't do enough to make your stay a memorable one. Manager Charles is a lovely friendly person. I belong to a charity who have built a school not too far from the hotel, so ask the chef Crispin, or waiter Anderson or Mercie in the dining and they will take you to the school. I hadn't been here for some time and my last trip was pretty dire. Admittedly, we were on military service. However, I am pleased to say that things have improved. No holdups on getting through the gates. Much cleaner and it appears that the statutory shops are well stocked and priced. Not disappointing. Have seen better...hence 3 stars.

Set on the Indian ocean coast this airport is a gateway to a beautiful part of Africa. Anyone who's used this airport would appreciate that it doesn't seem to fit the city's image. Though it is true to say that it is clean and prices are good. Doesn't take long to transfer. Not as busy as Nairobi

I completely agree with Riasworld Goveror's camp is amazing and I loved every minute that I stayed there. We were lucky enough to have Jackson as our guide and he really made the experience a 5* one. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he made sure that during our 3 day stay we saw all of the Big 5 including the elusive leopard. Out tent (number 36) overlooked the Masai Mara plains and at night you could hear the hippos, who had come out of the Mara river, snorting around the tent and chomping on grass- a surreal experience but an exciting one.
we visited a Masai camp on our last day- not some tawdry tourist trap but a real village-there was only my husband and I there and about 50 Masai. Our guide showed us around the village and inside one of the homes after entertaining us with dancing and singing. A great priviledge! I think a little piece of my heart remains in Africa and I am going to return one day.

The food is truly amazing and the "night club" portion of Carnivore is also quite pleasant. I really enjoyed drinking Dawa (swahili for medicine) which is a mixture of honey and some sort of white spirit (konyagi?)
Even though catching a taxi seems to involve a science formula, the place is really worth a visit!!!
