Places to take your mum in East London
East London has a bit of a bad rap. People think it's scary. In fact while parts are maybe a little hairy, there's lots of really nice bits too. This is just a small selection of places I've vetted for your mum. Or you if you are chicken! Anyway, civilized stuff, and all things you can see and get safely home from before dark.

It’s basically one great big aircraft-hanger of a hall, ringed with balconies, edged with ironwork railings. A fabulous building even before you look at the contents. Apparently the...” more...

It’s quite a traditional park and well cared for, with open lawns, trees and beds full of bushes and roses. Walk further in on the South side and you’ll come to the park’s main lake, where...” more...

It’s tucked away out of site behind a high wall, between waterways and other parks. You can get in through a gate in the wall...” more...

I’m glad I eventually found my way in, because this park packs a lot into a small area. The Northern end is mostly surrounded by a high brick wall, with only one gate...” more...

I sadly don’t have a garden, but I love dropping in just to browse. They have a small outside section with a good variety of...” more...

Even the several flocks of chickens use the yard on a rota system. There’s a building with a nice café, and sometimes events such as a craft market. From there you can...” more...

All week just an ordinary road, then for Sunday morning only it transforms into something bright and colourful and bulging at the seams. If you are not sure of your way there, just go in the opposite way to the people carrying plants. ...” more...

Yes you can find something nice to eat, but...” more...
