as i booked this hotel, i wish to be close at the city centre and admin district... so it is...
but as i try to relax in my room it was not quite enough... this hotel is a business and conference hitel... but their guests are celebrating in-room-parties.. so it was to looouuudd when i try to sleep... also the receiption could not do anything else... and this was not the best way to solve problems like this...
so i checked-out after two nights and mentioned this problem... hope that this will be solved in future times... but anyway, i would not suggest this hotel for a long term stay...
so try to do your best in vilna:)

Nice place with more than 100 Tequilas.
Sober atmosphere but a little bit noisy.
Nice place if you are sick of vodka and beer.

German restaurant located a few meters away from old town's main square (market place or town hall place); retro ambiance, retro music from the twenties (played at a very discreet volume); prices were more than reasonable, as well as the choice of beers (local or import); great german food.
warning: in case of importante sport events (i.e. basket, lithuania's national sport), video wall and match live at high volume! danger!

In this hotel I didn't stay for a night - I just wanted to play Billiards. And this went well! They have a great table in the lower part of the lobby in a quite good state. So take you cue and go there, if you like to play. But meanwhile - this was some years ago - there should be some better equipped Billiard halls around.

A restaurant which belongs to the camping ground. It has a few "standard" meals, which are quite good. Most meals are chinese stile, but don't shrink from eating chinese at a camping ground. It sounds a little bit strange but the meals are very delicious and the dishes are VERY big. We were there twice and ate different meals. I had chinese beef and it was great. The other meals also tasted well, my friends said (duck, chicken, pork ...). Prices are average, from 25 Lt to 60 ... but most dishes are at 30-35, but don't forget the big dishes which are according to the menue card for 2 persons??!!! The restaurant closes a little bit strange... for chinese food at 21.00 ... sometimes at 22.00 - but 22.00 is the official time. But don't be afraid, it's great. Especially if you are hungry ...

The Hotel Europa Royal is a nice hotel for the discerning host in a real amazing place: right in the middle of Vilnius' Old Town.
Yes. Very much so. As an example, this pic _taken from my room_:
It is located between the town hall square and the Dawn Gate/Ausros Vartai (south side of the city walls).
The hotel has this nice beautifully *décadent* environment. It is actuallly integrated by two buildings, the hotel itself built probably at the beginning of the 20th Century:
and next door this building in gothic hanseatic style (probably from the 14th Cent.), where you will find the hotel's restaurant:
No compromise. A 4-Star hotel is a 4-star hotel and ought to look like it. Same applies to the indoors, in the corridors:
or its decadent staircase:
Or else... How would look a hotel like this without a décadente staircase as it should be? :-)
When I booked online, I ordered a regular room. Later I realized that I could have a much better room for just a little bit more (around 15 euros a day). It was worth every penny.

The bathroom was also tastefully made but with basic planning mistakes: anti-sliding tiles on the floor... but slippery bathtub! Take care when leaving it. And no handles on the walls or other safety measures. Not danger-free if you ask me...
Water slipped out of the bathtub and fell onto the ground... again, not danger-free.
The toilet paper holder had been hung real low... You almost must fall on your knees to grab it (see on pic, on the left hand side); there was a spare roll on the water flush (not a very stable solution if you ask me...).
Breakfast (included in the price) at the hotel restaurant; gothic building with vaulted ceilings... a real luxury.
.
The price of the double room with breakfast was 80 euros/night (20% off for bookings of three nights or more).
Great breakfast buffet, good quality meal and drinks (er... fruit juices were not fresh), trays were constantly replaced when they were emptied. Nice way to start the day.
Non-smoking room, wi-fi connexion included.
Efficient reservations service. I was forced to change my reservations twice. They replied quickly and efficiently. Bravo.
If the bad had not been so poorly designed, this review of a four-star hotel would have deserved 5 stars-rating at qype. Too bad.
aroshi I'm planing a trip to Vilnius and now I'm going to check out this in hotel in detail. Thanks!

Lithuanian food is for those working hard and tend to feel cold quickly. Especially in long, dark eastern winters. Meat (usually pork), potatoes, fat (tons of butter are served in all the places calling themselves "traditional"). Famous dish is something named zeppelin (Didžkukuliai/Cepelinai) - a potato dumpling filled with pork, surprisingly. And with bacon. Which is served aside too, together with, yes, molten butter and sour cream.
What is magnificent at Abano mene: They drop the butter. Really. And serve some other filled things, pasta squares several fillings. Fish, potatoes, pork (here we go again) and vegetable. By the way that was the only time I had something "green" in Kaunas, aside from salad. With that they are specialists of Caesar's variations - but that is an other story.
Potatoe pancakes are on every menue - and they taste like the Germans prepare them. Funny thing: There are some good local beers in the Kaunas region - but in this place they offer Belgian abbey amber nectar. And they have live music at the weekends, jazzy stuff. Finally: Abato mene is in the center of the old town - which is more worthwhile to visit than Vilnius or most other Baltic cities.

Fantastic restaurant - really amazing food. We had the caviar starter, moules, steak and rabbit. All great. Best steak in ages. Staff seemed a little surly/uninterested. Had to go and find them to get a dessert menu. Good price, particularly if you're not used to Lithuanian prices.
