1 Points out of 5

12.2.2012, it is very quiet in Monaco these days – no tourists compare to the high season and most restaurant do not have a lot of guests. Now my 3. time eating in the Resto within 6 month I am no more willing to accept the ‘gift’. 12.5 E for a pot of mussles with some french potatoes is ok, but 8.5 E for a quarter of red wine you cannot drink is way too much! Next door in Italy (Ventimiglia) you pay for an even better wine 3.5 for a quarter. These are some tricky Italian owner trying to fool the people! Some fresh mussles on top and old stuff if you reach the bottom. 22 E for a simple meal and a very bad wine, the mussles have to be fresh! – You can avoid next day problems if you avoid the restaurant!

3 Points out of 5

This relatively new restaurant became one of my favorite places to have lunch in the “Port of Monaco” area.
First, the only place in Monaco where you can order a coffee (delicious, strong, Italian one) with mini-croissant/orange juice for 1.5 € (!).
At lunch time, you’d better book a table, especially if you intend to go there around 12.30. Restaurant is fully booked every day. Pizza, tartare or carpaccio are good deals, but the best deal is surely the “dish of the day”, when Italian food meets French Brasserie cuisine. Delicious, rather original, (e.g. cooked beef meat mixed with Italian Buffala mozzarella) and affordable (dish around around 13 €).

Edit dated 9 February 2012: To my view, some changes initiated a few months ago infer a revised review (3 stars instead of 4). The opening hours have been modified : opens at 10:00 in the morning, so the café atmosphere, with its special morning clientele, is unfortunately lost… Last but not least, the dish of the day, now scheduled for the entire week (ie Monday: dish 1 ; Tuesday: dish 2, etc.) is at the rate of 17 eur, which is rather expensive for just one dish, compared to other restaurants in the area. Disappointing…

Rented a 650 BMW from this company, did some extensive mountain road rides, the roads in the mountains are very trecherious and I would reccomend that you be a very experienced rider.

I had a rather minor inciident, broke the tips off the front brake lever and the clutch lever, also minor scratches to the encaps on the handle bars, all was well and I agreed to pay for this, fair and square I did cause that damage.

Then the dude that checks in the bikes says that there is a small scrape on the lower front cowl. Honest-its under the edge down near the motor and barely visible. This I say had to be there when I rented the bike, they say no and are Charging me 285.00 EUR to repair. At most all it needs is a small airbrush repair. This is outrageious! I have a pic of this VERY SMALL Scrape if anyone whats to see it…

When they rent you the bike they take it out into a busy street out front to have you check it and get orientation.. Very distracting with all the traffic passing by.

So BEWARE! Check the equipment over very carefully and make them note any little scrape or scrath – else you may have to pay up the nose for it latter.

Until this happened I was very happy with the equipment, modern and operated well. I frequent the area often and will NEVER rent from this operator again!

I stayed here last Tuesday night on a work trip. As it was business travel, I didn't see much of Monaco but did see quite a lot of the hotel. It is a perfectly nice hotel if a little lacking in character. I couldn't get the air conditioning in the room cold enough but I do like it very cold to sleep.

We ate in the restaurant and it was really good. Pumpkin soup with apple to start and sea bream with stir fried vegetables for main. The fish in particular was very nice, not at all dry and the sauce with the vegetables complemented to fish rather than overpowered it.

The location is exquisite. The view from the balcony stunning.
Although drinks are expensive, and the club is situated in Monaco, the crowd isn't upscale. Most people come from Nice to have a night out at Karement. Therefore you will only find some Monegasques in the VIP section. Do not expect rich men accompanied by russian ladies. The crowd is 15-18 and not very elegant. It can get very crowdy...

5 Points out of 5

I will forever remember walking into Jimmy Z's, as I had the chance to accompany my friend, DJ Kenny Carpenter, into this club on the 24th of September, and get a view few ever had. Ok, I'm not richie, not even in the slightest bit as I drive $700 truck, and live in the Texas boonies, but he whisked me over there to experience the life. Well, for starters, the others are dead on, it's loaded with beautiful women in every direction. The man who owns the club currently is always there, if you look towards the right, you will find an alcove with a half circle of seats with tables. If you look there, he's usually surrounded by many others, and if you're lucky enough to sit there, then the bar instantly becomes free. The music drives his club, and the DJ, who keeps the party moving, and his poor little companion, were given the royal treatment, as he told his #1 blond, "you see these two, whatever they want, Ok?" And she makes a nod and the drinks start flowing. You don't have to guess how they made the drinks, if you're paying 26 Euros a piece, they better not be watered down, and if you're on the tab of the boss, they better be flammable...
Once the beats started flowing from Kenny, the crowd went wild to his mastery of discotech, and the drinks continued to flow. This club tested my Irish blood, and the women tested my commitment to a dusty old iron ball 6,000 miles away. Through it all, it wasn't any different from any other bar, same formula, just another, much better execution. I could say you would have as much fun here, as say, the Astra bar in Mykonos, which is also, a very exlusive place, which caters to the whim of a DJ and his friend. However, that's another story.

I can only second the thoughts of the previous German author. The hotel is not worth the money. The location is excellent, the pool is very nice and the bar with a gorgeous view across the bay is magnificent. Also the proximity to the Casino and the Buddha Bar is much appreciated.
But the rooms are not worth the money. Old TVs (no flat screen), worn down carpet and catastrophic WLAN connection. They dis not manage to connect my WLAN after multiple tries. Last, the parking fee if 45 Euro makes me wonder if my car is also staying in a hotel room.
