Peru Moto Tours - Cuzco
Calle Saphi 578
Cusco
Servise is not quite good, but you can't expect it to be as in Europe. The bigger problem is roads and drivers in Peru. The bigger you are (read if you ride a truck:) the better of you will be..No one is gonna run you over..Driving in mountaing roads in Peru..only for the brave but also adventurous:) Good luck! Mediterraneo Chicken - Lima
Av. Alfredo Benavides 432
Lima
Mediterraneo Chicken (MC) ist a little restaurant chain of pollerias, the peruvian chicken restaurants, that is established in Lima. There is a difference of quality between the branches. We tested two. The one discribed here and one at Larcomar, the big tourist meeting point near the pacific. If you have the chance to choose, avoid the ona at Larcomar: it is real fast food and served without love. The branch at Alfredo Benavido ist also fast food but made with slowfood soul. It is more or less a real restaurant. In the evening you will find a lot of businesspeople taking their dinner over there, some tourist aswell and families. We recommend to leave the menu away, just decide how many chickens you want to order (1/2 to 1/1 per person). It is a must! Very tasty an served by engaged and friendly staff. Awesome tour. Very informative and the guide was great. The pub crawl was a lot of fun and well worth it too! (Zen33, 30-05-2011)

Airport - Cuzco
Cusco
5 stars: the approach to this airport in a big plane is a very exciting adventure (and also the departure). Cusco is served mostly by home flights from Lima or Arequipa. There are some flights to Bolivia and Brasil as well. The flights from Lima depends hardly on the weather in Cusco. If there is fog in Cusco the flight in Lima will not start. That is wwhy most flights from Lima start in the early morning. At afternoon the probability of clouds increases. The landing is a difficult exercise for every pilot because of the close mountains. But for the passengers the view is spectacular and breathtaking. The airport facilities are like at every province airport: you walk to the plane, the little entrance hall is crowded with the passengers and in front of the building hundreds of taxidrivers are weiting for the next trip. Do not take the first or loudest driver. Relax and take your time. If you negotiate one by one and not in the crowd your price will be better. No driver likes to admit, that he is ready to make the tour for less. (joecritical, 23-06-2011)

Casona Plaza - Arequipa
Jr. Arequipa 655
Arequipa
First of all: the Casona Plaza is not in Arequipa, it is in the town Puno at Lake Titicaca. Qype does not know Puno unfortunately. Tha Casona Plaza is a four star house if you use the peruvian scale. We felt comfortable and safe during our stay in Puno. There is a WLAN connect to the www and all facilities you need during a touristic travel. We loved the breakfast for its widespread varieties and the freshness. The clerks were helpful if we need them. We got a room in the fourth floor. Taking the stairs instead of elevator is better than a training with Lance Armstrong according to the high location above sea level. Our advises: 1. Ask for a room not next to the elevator because of the noisy doors. 2. Reserve via the Casona Plaza Website. There is a 10 $ discount to the normal price. You may have to remember the staff if they prepare the invoice. 3. Do not use other booking websites, they mostly take an extrafee about 20 $ while advertising with 30 $ discount to a not existing real price (2010). (joecritical, 22-06-2011)

Ninos Hotel - Cuzco
Calle Meloc 442
Cusco
5 stars due to the idea and responsibility for this charming hostel. The Ninos Hotel is founded by Jolanda van den Berg to receive financial support for her social project in Cusco. She supports homeless children, that gives the Hotel its name. You allways feel welcome in that nice place. If you close the door you will leave the noisy traffic far behind you. Clean and easy rooms. A nice atrium and lovely travellers from all over the world fulfill your wishes. For breakfast we recommend Granja Heidi. (joecritical, 20-06-2011)

Link Hostel - Lima
General Suárez 332
Lima
A nice small, friendly, relaxed hostel. The beds are very comfortable and the dorms are not cramped. The internet and Wi-Fi is very fast. There's a well equipped kitchen and nice common area with big TV and lots of DVDs and satellite. The staff are very helpful. The location is on the edge of Miraflores but close to the Rapid bus to the Centro district. The only downside was that it was a bit quiet with not many guests when I stayed. (bacn, 12-04-2011)

AFS Peru - Lima
Av. Javier Prado Este 596 Of. 302
Lima
Horror Trip!!!!! I was one year in Peru with AFS Peru and it was just horrible. Always had problems with AFS Peru! They dont respond to mails..most of the time you have to wait like 2 months for an responding. Changing of Host Family was not possible..even the host Family was steeling stuff from me... " always they said..the problems are not serious enough" I felt such in a prison with AFS Peru! They always made you under pressure..." if you dont follow the rules..we will send you home straight away" I had the best times when i was without AFS! They dont helped me with one problem that i had during the year! Choose an other organization to go to Peru with! (Participationt01, 09-04-2011)
