I stayed in one of the vacation apartments for one week. It was safe, very clean, newly furnished and quite.
There was a fridge, aircon, WLAN, flatscreen and a washing machine in the apartment.
Everything is new and in good condition. Even after I left ;-)
The location is really nice. It is central but you can breathe and it is close to the Metro and the Skytrain.
The apartment is located in an upmarket residential building. There is a well equipped gym and a decent swimming pool in the building. I felt very comfortable and of course it felt much more like Thailand then it does in an international hotel chain.
Altogether this was really great value for the money.
Neil - the owner - is reliable, very helpful and really a nice guy. He seriously stocks the fridge with cold drinks before you arrive and he can tell you almost everything about what to do (and what not to do) in Bangkok.

Mein Cocktail war gut. Wenn man schnöseliges Personal und Gäste lustig findet, dann ist die Viktoria Bar ein Geheimtip. Ich habe auch noch ein Club Sandwich gegessen, das eigentlich nur nach Chillisoße geschmeckt hat. Fazit: besser als Burger King, aber nicht so gut wie MC Donalds ;-)

Wir hatten leider nicht viel Glück mit dem Bond. Die Speisen waren insgesamt eher mittelmässig. Am besten war das als Amuse Gueule gereichte Karottensüppchen mit Ingwer. Der Salat den ich als Vorspeise bestellt hatte war ok. Das unglückliche Lamm, das uns in Form eines Lammkarree’s serviert wurde, kam definitiv aus der neuseländischen Lamm-Retorte und hat ensprechend traurig geschmeckt. Die Beilagen waren eher durchschnittlich. Eine Kartoffelcreme die wie ein Cocktail im Glas serviert wurde, sah toll aus, hat aber leider nach nichts geschmeckt. Immerhin war der offene Rotwein dem Preis (0,1l/EUR 4,--) entsprechend gut. Das Lob hat der Chardonnay meiner Begleitung allerdings nicht verdient. Die Bedienung ist zwar aufmerksam, aber wirkt eher “bildungsfern” ;-) Auch die Eintichtung sieht auf der Web-Seite viel besser aus als im Restaurant. Vielleicht sollte man in dem Laden lieber die Burger und Sandwiches essen.

La Focacceria ist sehr preiswert, um den positiven Aspekt zuerst zu erwähnen. Die beiden Sorten Focaccia, die ich probiert habe, haben fast nur fettig geschmeckt. Der Wein war nicht toll. Die Gäste waren etwas schnöselig.
