Wetherby Road, Plompton, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire HG5 8LY
Converted farmhouse with original flags filled with second hand farm furniture, gew-gaws and the like, but it has a roaring fire and it all works quite well. It's pretty popular judging from the big, and mostly full, car park.
The food is bought-in with a big range and mostly you get what you ask for with good service. Made a mistake yesterday with the 'Welsh Rarebit' - £6 for one slice of toast thinly covered with cheese, 4 bits of bacon and a cold tomato. The chips (included) were fine..

Had a really nice lunch of tapas/starters (the portions are quite big so beware). In London the yuppies would be fighting to get in, in't norf it's merely quite busy, friendly, and the food and drink are good. It's rather expensive, but if you want cheap and quick buy a sandwich.. the situation, on the railway bridge over the station, with trains tooting to and fro, is fantastic - see the garden views!

The raison d'etre (sorry) of Hotel du Vin is the food, and it is very good fine dining. Service is friendly, ours was a little slow but we were not in a hurry. Wine list extensive with an impressive mark-up! H de V in Harrogate is very "in" at the moment so expect braying crowds of in folk at the bar on peak evenings.

An unsuspected gem of an Indian Restaurant and takeaway. Good food, nice selection of reasonable beers. Off the beaten track.
