Simply Beauty Online - Braintree

30 Branoc Court,, Clockhouse Way, Braintree, Essex CM7 3AL

17-05-2012

Ordered  a few products from here as I see them when I visit a friend in Braintree and I find the delivery good, the nail varnish long lasting and best of all the prices are very good.

Dee-Sign - Barking

London IG11 0

14-05-2012

It only takes one unhappy customer to make people think twice about buying at a store. I don't know if it is the fact that Dee-Sign had a tablet 'deal' going with a "third party site" as they call it, but over 3 weeks down the line and still no delivery of the item I bought from them and no correspondence explaining why either. The tracking number I was sent was useless as it went nowhere. I tried phoning them for 4 days in a row and could not get through, of course this sends alarm bells so I resorted to enquiring via email. The explanation I received back states due to the influx of orders from the third party site they have been unable to update the tracking on their site and the phone lines are very busy. They go on to say all purchases are with the logistics department and being despatched as quickly as possible. This reply to me was 9 days ago and still no delivery. However 6 days ago (8th May) I received an email to say my payment has now been received and goods will be despatched 14 working days (Monday to Friday only) from the following day. Payment was in fact made 24th April according to the acknowledgement from Dee-Sign. And you can now apparently email them for priority delivery - at an extra cost ... no surprises there then, after you have already paid a large delivery cost. Given the above problems they appear to have with despatching goods, I was amazed to then see they had yet another deal going via Qype. It does NOT make good business sense to launch a 2nd 'deal' when you appear not to be able to cope after the orders from the first 'deal'. The pursuit of sales should never take precedence over customer services when you are a small up and coming business. So whilst every 5 star review above gave me the confidence to purchase from them I am afraid only 1 star from me and the assurance I won't recommend them or be buying anything from them in the future.

Chart Farm - Cape Town

Klaassens Road, Wynberg, Cape Town

27-04-2012

We had lunch at Chart Farm on a recent trip to pick roses.
I know that sounds really crazy but Chart Farm is very similar to P.Y.O. strawberries, in that you get a bucket and a pair of secateurs and are let loose in among 100's of rose bushes to cut your own stems. The roses are all long stemmed and beautiful.

Best part of the afternoon was lunch at the Terrace Coffee shop.  Hands down the very best chicken pie square I have ever eaten, the same was said about everyone else's dishes.  I huge fresh and delicious salad was put on the table for guests to help themselves.

Desert as a dream as well.  All the food is made on the premises and is fresh and incredibly tasty.

I bought grapes, figs and several other bits from the farm shop as well.

Last but not least is the view from the restaurant and that is best left to the photos I'll post.

Camino - Canary Wharf - Docklands

28 Westferry Circus,, Docklands, London E14 8RR

23-02-2012

I was at this Qype event with my son and find yet again the review I wrote has disappeared.
So just a short and sweet, we both enjoyed the food, the tours of the kitchen and being shown how to prepare a few of the special dishes with tastings.
Great Qypers company as always.

Christophers - Covent Garden

18 Wellington Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E 7DD

23-02-2012

Had yet another lovely meal at Christophers. Always enjoy their brunch and went for lunch.
Unfortunately there was a very loud business lunch going on with 2 men guffawing at everything which, while they were there, was not very good.
However the food was excellent and I would certainly recommend the Grilled Asparagus with Pecorino Cheese & Truffle Oil as a starter. while the Gressingham duck was pink and tender. The sweet potato mash was a perfect side order. Spent a long afternoon over coffee after the meeting crowd moved on.
Will be trying them out for dinner soon.

Frederick's Restaurant - Islington

106 Islington, Islington, London N1 8EG

23-02-2012

Had a very nice lunch here last week.
We started with Parma ham and melon, fresh and enjoyable. My partner had fillet of Cod and it was apparently extremely good. I had the Braised lamb chops with dauphinoise potatoes. The chops were perfection and the potatoes crisp topping but soft an tasty inside.
The honey and walnut cheesecake was tasty, but try to avoid the honey drizzle around the cheesecake as it is overwhelmingly sweet.
Ambience was lovely and the view of the trees and garden adds to the experience. Service was superb without being too much.
Slightly pricey though.

Loch Fyne - Covent Garden

2-4 Catherine Street, Holborn, London WC2B 5JZ

23-02-2012

Being a big seafood lover we tend to end up having seafood often.
Loch Fyne has never disappointed and they have a lovely daytime special on at the moment for under £10.
The fish and seafood is always fresh, well prepared and a delight to eat. I would just prefer that every side dish is not an extra but part of the meal.
They also don’t mind if you spend hours sat there after lunch enjoying a coffee or 2.
If you join their website you get one voucher for a 2 course meal at £9.95, the same as the daytime special.

Very Important Qyper medal for norman1366

norman1366 Thanks for the hint because I LOVE seafood.

Le Querce - Forest Hill

68 Brockley Rise, Honor Oak Park, London SE23 1LN

14-12-2011

I have been outside this restaurant on many occasions and did not even notice it, I presumed it was a cafe of some sort. I have a friend visiting who recalled the good food and we decided to try it out on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately, so did a couple with a child of approximately 3 or 4, the little fellow must have been way over his bedtime as he cried and screamed the entire time we were there and the parents did nothing more than ignore him.

The menu had several fish specials that were fresh and uniquely prepared. I chose the prawn pasta which as absolutely lovely and my friend chose a Sardinian dish which she enjoyed.

My one gripe is that the prawns are not shelled, in fact the feelers had not even been removed and being the same colour as the tomato based sauce, I kept getting these in my mouth and having to remove them, not very dignified I promise. My 2nd gripe was a lack of a finger bowl or anything to wipe the hands on, apart from the one serviette with the table setting. So you are having to shell the prawns to eat them and … I presume lick you fingers clean ! I did ask and by the time I had finished my meal ( about 20 minutes later) was given a small ramekin with water in. Not ideal.

So whilst the food was most enjoyable for the most, the experience left a lot to be desired and I doubt I shall be returning soon.

Sausage Man - Lewisham

98 Lewisham High Street, London SE13 5JH

23-03-2011

I'll just have to review the Sausage Man as well, as I bought a pack of 10 marinated steaks from him just yesterday. Always fresh, always delicious and extremely friendly service. I have been buying there for many years and never once been disappointed. Expect to pay a few pence more, but certainly worth every penny.

Llandudno Beach - Cape Town

Llandudno, 7806 Cape Town

25-03-2008 (updated on 30-07-2010)

Andrew, have you ever wandered past Llandudno Beach to Sandy Bay ? That used to be my favourite beach as it was ever so quiet and not visited by the tourists who found the walk a bit tiring.

Andrew Hunter Ha ha. Ok, i’ll take that as a yes :)

Right - Well next time i’m in SA it’s down to Sandy Bay for the all body tan!

Anita_S The beach itself is very small due it being a rocky area, but therein lies the beauty as there are many secluded areas where you can spend all day without seeing anyone unless you actually want to. It is only really frequented by locals and as such very natural … or should that be ‘au naturelle’ :-)
