HMV UK - Stafford

31-35 Guildhall Shopping Centre, Market Square, Stafford, Staffordshire ST16 2BB

14-10-2008

HMV in Stafford is kind of expensive, much cheaper to go on last fm then buy from amazon or play.com or even ebay. They have recently had a shuffle around meaning cds are in alpha order rather than, rock, dance, metal etc meaning you cannot take a lucky dip anymore in a certain section : ( - dont think other people do this -album art work buying tis alittle riskaaaY

DVD’s can be discouted and or quite cheap if you buy at the right time

The merge of mail into such a small and crampt place its silly, I mean its going to be ages before the internet takes over the world isnt it . . . . . .

CD selection in this shop is dia!!! unless you only like pop chart cd’s, vidio games or what ever you call em, they sell them here so little kids whos grandad parents give them money for books in whsmithes spend them on PC war games , blowing each others guts up for fun? fra la la la lar

Jessops - Stafford

Stafford, Staffordshire ST16 2NT

09-10-2008

Really high qual prints in jessops they have won multiple awards for best printing, and for me out do boots and other printers in stafford, a little more expensive but well worth it! When doing Art foundation photography i spent £30 one day on photos and when i collected they said they had a problem with my photos, i opened them up and found to my horror that they had given me 7 extra of each print!!!! cannot get any better than that : ) an aciddent i no. . .

Staff are friendly and full of knowledge, on hour service photos are ready sooner somtimes,or if your pushed for time go for half hour service.

Its a great place to shop for a digital camera especially a compact one or entry level digital SLR , the amount of lens in the shop is not great and the would be better selection in say stoke or the internet . not to mention the amount you could save checking out in the shop then finding the best price online!

They had an offer on last week 2GB CF cards for £13 pound (normally £20+) this is great considering i bough on online last week for £8, shot 100 photos before finding the card was corrupt!!!!

ghost walk - Nottingham

Salutation Inn, Maid Marion Way, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire NG1 7AP

09-10-2008

Nottingam is very old as is this ghost walk its been going for ages!!! Start finish is at the Salutation which is a wicked pub- 3rd oldest building in the uk or nottingham some say? The bells older or somthing.

The walk sure took us and our group of 30-40 people to some scarry places, the stories were grusome : )- a nice slice of history, a nice atmosphere is created, I dont know weather people drink there way to soften the mind or somthing to engage in the myth, either way people seamed to enjoy it including myself, it also helped keep warm!

The coolest thing was going down the cellar at the end of the walk and sitting in oblong shaped room, on the way down you pass about 3 different places were people got killed or acidently fell into cavens of ice cold water . . .nice!!!

nice rock band upstairs were playing and shed loads of traditional ale for sale!!!!

The pub is how they should be -old fashioned!!! warm and inviting, many small rooms are cramed full of people drinking beer and cider!!! didnt try food but would think its nice and tradish

dont think i went on halloween night, althought people were dressed up in costumes, wicked winter place for drinks and ultimate halloween drinks and activities

Dorothy Clive Gardens - Nantwich

Nantwich, Cheshire TF9 4DL

09-10-2008

Iv located this again in the wrong place best to go on the website for more accurate dirrections etc!

The Dorothy Clive gardens are known for its intimate and informal layout.landscape features, including a prettie woodland garden, an alpine scree, gravel garden and many exploding mixed borders, not to mention vast and specialist variety of rhododendrons and azaleas in spring time in what is called the quarry garden.

Adults £5.00. Over 65’s £4.00. Children up to 11 years free, children aged 11 - 16 £1.00. Pre booked groups of 20 or more £4.00 per person.

there is a nice Tearoom that serves hot and cold food until 3.00 p.m, and home-baked cakes and pastries throughout the day. open 10.00a.m - 5.00p.m. The tearooms are friendly, akes are nice!!!

The intial part of the garden - the alpine scree is not really suitable for those in wheel chairs, (as is the whole gardens) but i have seen people with awesome carers who have helped people up a fair few steps to see the rhododendrons although the layout is not designed for wheel chairs the facilities are all in place, i think you can borrow wheel chairs etc

Its also worth knowing that the is an acess road near the tearooms for disabled acess to the upper level gardens- the quarry

Well worth a visit as the informality of the gardens shows that your little patch could turn into a relaxing and enjoyable place to be all year round

put your sprog on a lead!

bluesofty Your head gardener! Hmmm?

Arf I work at sandon hall as a gardener

The dog and Partridge - Uttoxeter

Uttoxeter Road, Lower Tean, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire ST10 4LN

02-10-2008

This is for The Dog and Partridge in Lower Tean, would type that in but it wouldnt let me! This was my old local!

This is a slice of history for you, the pubs recently been taken over by a brewery which is cool but it means there is no charity rock concert(night of the dog) anymore which raised 7 grand two years ago fo air abulance lookily the piss up money made almost entirely from alcohol sales of 800 or so people, none of them had to be air lifted to hospital!!!!

if people are thinking am going off on a tangent the pub helped put the show together by providing the beer and cider and other intoxicating liquids

The pub is a meeting place for locals or at least it used to be, rock night on a friday would cram the place full and bring in people from as far a feild as ashborne and uttoxetor to get a peice of the classic, somtimes heavy metal rock bands, blues acoustic sets!

!!! the bands played in the glass house or conservatory which was later sound proofed to stop one set of neighbours being arses, I mean its not the pubs fault they couldnt sell there house as it was next to the pub, ha ha

The glass conservatory was also used for functions such as weddings, other organised drinkings, sunday lunches if ramed!

Nice beer garden to the rear is unlit so bring your own tea lights/lanterns and its brill, nice and quite and chilled, we used to plug in a cd player into mini speakers and play over the sound of some shockingly bad dad rock bands.

good times, I only hope they havent lost the country feel of the pub by opening the interior up . . . I can remeber when the pub had a wedding on saturday so the band was set up in the old building, it was was ramed as hell!!!some drums had to be moved to get to the bar it was that tight!!

brillient atmosphere

ARE you LOCAL? he he

Stafford Outdoor Leisure - Stafford

38 Mill Street, Stafford, Staffordshire ST16 2AJ

02-10-2008

This is one of afew specialist shops down mill street stafford. the shop sells clothing and equipment predominently for walking and camping, as well as selling scouting uniforms, a wide array of shoes for running to grade C3 ice boots and a small amout of dedicated climbing eqipment. clothing included true mountain products such as mountain equipment waterproofs and some technical fleaces.

The guys in the shop are not hard sell, but will somtimes ask if they can help you out. Everything is fairly pricey but then this is not a millets shop so they dont sell budget goods- its either mid range or the best only which is nice, just not on your wallet.

upstairs they have the odd tent on show and some discounted clothing ( a larger section for womens clothes but still worth a look at male clothes )

What is especially useful about the shop is its links with the tent sales which happen at least twice in the summer where you can pick a real bargin on tents, i would say if your looking for a large or family tent to see when the tent sale is as you will save at least 20% off the retail price. Tent sales are located around stafford on school feilds were you can walk inside and check out the tents before you buy , its best to pop into the shop to see when the sales are and if your looking for somthing percific, have a look at there list and see quite how cheap it will be in the sale !

Student union bar - Nottingham

Nottingham, Nottinghamshire NG7 2AG

25-09-2008

just so you know not sure if i put the arrow on the right part of the map!! This is a cool student union bar which sits impressively under a grand building you walk though and its got pool/snooker tables and a fair few leather surfacs to park you asses! the bar is moderate size normal wait for drinks is afew minutes- normal service, drinks are cheap and so is the food with a SU card! Snake bites £2.00 and you get a free headache in the morning. The SU bar looks down on a nice stretch of water which is hiden by some pretty trees, there is some space outside to sit out in summer that is away from the road. ajoined to the SU bar is conveniently a drama studio for students to sing/dance and do theatatrial shnanigans!!
Best time to come to this bar is after an organised fancy dress city crawl to raise money for charity(not!!) its dead funny cus everyone is caked and the costums are so funny from wigs men wearing tights and bras on top of tshirits face paint and the whole works!!! people write rubbish all over each others hands n faces and yeah tis loud atmosphere!!! youll come out covered in stickers! Its not to far to walk back to halls and if you feel up to it you can have a dunk in the millenium gardens with the orange fish
