It truly is Geek Heaven!
However, not being much of a geek (anymore) and not being a sci-fi nutjob (anymore), I was slightly bored by the tacky figurines at hugely overdone prices.
On the other hand, the proper ‘vintage’ stuff - the original batman, superman etc stuff - was really cool! Again, overpriced, but there aren’t many places you can find stuff like that. It was nice to look at, anyway.
Downstairs was great - full of Torchwood books and new-series Dr. Who DVDs. I was very happy with that (sad but true).
My main problem with forbidden planet is how horrible crowded it is - not with people, but just… stuff. Very bright lights, small aisles. Bah.

Whilst I still mourn for the loss of Virgin Megastores (I have a weird loyalty to Virgin due to their good mobile service, great customer service, and the quirky, cute staff they hire), I have to admit that Zavvi is almost as good.
The shop floors are spacious - no more bum-touching like in HMV, when you try to squeeze past someone in an aisle - and the staff are still courteous, friendly, cute and quirky. Nice to see that they have carried over some of Virgin M’s traits.
They had a great selection of everything, and some really good offers. I am officially boycotting HMV in favour of Zavvi.

Not to my tastes, this place.
I’m not a huge pie fan, but when I want a pie, I want a *pie*. Not something random like mango, blue cheese and lamb stuffed into some pastry.
When I went, it was after lunchtime, and there were very few pies left. So I got a selection of the mini pies, but I didn’t really like them.
They were fresh, and hot - hence the 3 stars, not 2 - but… I don’t know. Is it too much to ask for just to get a standard british pie?
If you have eclectic tastes, this is for you! If you want something plain, hot, and typically British I would go next door and get an egg mayo sandwich from the sandwich shop next door!

Everyone in the office loves this place, and I’m sure they have good reason.
However, the one and only time I went there, my roll was rock hard. Literally. I threw it on the counter and it made a hollow thud.
One of the staff are friendly, and one not so much. But the prices are good, and if you go there and get something you like, that’s excellent!
But if you get a rock hard roll, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Also - they load up on the butter, so if that’s not to your taste ask them not to put too much on.
Sorry Snack Bar, only 2 stars from me today.

Mmmmm meaattttt….
The perfect place for the Qype meat up!
I agree wit heveryone else here really: great steaks (half price tuesday, hell yeah!), good Cosmo’s (well, the second one was. Maybe I was getting drunker and they started tasting nicer?), and a pretty good margaritas for my first taste of one, I think.
As mentioned, its a bit of a pain that they no longer take bookings - and as a big group we struggled a couple of times to get everyone a seat. But all worked out well.
The desserts looked lovely, and next time i go back I might have to try the pulled pork… if i can pull myself away from the perfectly done steak. (Tip: the side of grilled onions might seem an unnecessary expense, but they were darn good with the steak and chips).
Very good service, efficient and friendly staff. Pretty waitresses too, if like some (not mentioning any names) you choose to ogle them!
