A thoroughly modern hotel ideally placed for patrons of the Intl. Conference Centre as well as the city centre and its attractions.
Taking advantage of a very good Easter deal we enjoyed a very comfortable and restful night’s stay here last weekend. They could maybe do with not having the stairway radiators on quite so high as with heat rising the upper floors/landings were very warm indeed but absolutely no issues in terms of cleanliness or facilities.

Ate dinner here in The Palace bistro on Easter Sunday and was well impressed with the can do attitude of the staff on duty that night (to the extent that a side order of roast veg was added to our order thus making my main course less boring than it otherwise could have been).
The ham hock broth was a very tasty and filling starter and the salmon with pink grapefruit was satisfying and well presented (though as mentioned in danger of being boring as a main without a side order) whilst £10 for the bottle of red we had was a steal. Having film of Harrogate in days gone by playing on the two tvs was also a nice touch.

Caught a large part of the final round of The Masters golf here on Easter Sunday after an earlier quiet pint in the afternoon watching Arsenal on their way to beating Man City. Only a couple of ales on and you might have a bit of trouble making your way through the place if you’re much over 6ft but it’s comfy and well kept with quite a few screens for the sport.
Live music is clearly a staple of the bar’s attraction and the band on during our later session (The Blueflies) were a cut above what I’d normally expect from a pub in terms of ability as well as being blessed with a sound that was clear enough for them to be easily heard without the need to be overpowering and make conversation impossible at the end of the pub furthest from them. Definitely a good option either in the afternoon or later at night.

6 real ales on, quirky decor (lots of cased stuffed birds, working bar-top gas cigar lighters (mind out with a long beard)) along with the more traditional local area old photos etc. and the owner inconspicuously sitting amongst the clientele all combine to make this a decently cosy place for a few pints. We visited on Easter Sunday so the atmosphere was maybe not typical for that day of the week normally but it was certainly convivial.
